Gmail Messenger View transforms your Gmail email threads into a clean, messenger-style chat — similar to WhatsApp or Telegram. If you've ever scrolled endlessly through a long Gmail thread trying to follow a conversation, this extension is for you. With one click you get a side panel that shows every message as a chat bubble — your messages on the right, everyone else's on the left. ──────────────────────────────────── KEY FEATURES ──────────────────────────────────── Chat bubble layout Each email message becomes a chat bubble. Your sent messages appear on the right (green), replies from others appear on the left (white). Avatars, sender names, and timestamps are shown for every message. Reply indicators When someone quotes a previous message in their reply, the extension automatically detects the quoted content and shows a reply indicator — just like Telegram or WhatsApp. Click the indicator to instantly scroll Gmail to the original message being quoted. Date separators Messages are grouped by date with clear separators, so you always know when a conversation pause happened. Works everywhere in Gmail The Chat button appears on any open email thread — whether you're in Inbox, Sent mail, Search results, a label folder, or any other Gmail view. Auto-expand all messages Gmail collapses older messages by default. The extension automatically expands every message in the thread before rendering the chat view, so you never miss context. Export as JSON Copy the entire thread as a structured JSON object to the clipboard with one click — useful for archiving, summarising, or feeding into other tools. No data leaves your browser The extension reads the Gmail page directly. It makes no network requests, stores no message content, and sends nothing to any external server. Your emails stay private. ──────────────────────────────────── HOW TO USE ──────────────────────────────────── 1. Open any email thread in Gmail. 2. Click the "Chat" button that appears in the bottom-right corner of the page. 3. The chat panel slides in from the right side. 4. Click any message bubble to scroll Gmail to that message. 5. Click a reply indicator to jump to the quoted message. 6. Click the copy icon in the panel header to export the thread as JSON. 7. Click × or the Chat button again to close the panel. ──────────────────────────────────── PERMISSIONS ──────────────────────────────────── • activeTab / scripting — required to read and interact with the Gmail page you have open. • clipboardWrite — required for the "Copy as JSON" export feature. • storage — saves your colour theme preference (light/dark) across sessions. No permission to read email outside the active tab. All processing happens locally in your browser. Message content is never sent anywhere.
