Gmail Delete Shortcut

Delete the open or selected Gmail message with Ctrl+Delete or Command+Delete.

Use a familiar keyboard shortcut to delete the current email or selected conversations in Gmail. SHORTCUTS - macOS: Command + Delete (the Backspace key on a Mac keyboard). - Windows and Linux: Ctrl + Delete. - Backspace and forward Delete are both recognized with either modifier. HOW TO USE 1. Open Gmail in your browser and sign in normally. 2. Open a message or conversation, or select the conversations you want to delete. 3. Click outside any search, reply, or compose field. 4. Press the shortcut once to invoke Gmail's toolbar Delete action. The extension uses Gmail's existing deletion behavior. When conversation view is enabled, this can affect the entire conversation, not just an individual message within it. Use Gmail's Undo or restore controls if you need to recover a conversation. SAFETY GUARDS - Does not intercept deletion shortcuts inside text inputs, search fields, or editable message content. - Does not trigger deletion while a detected dialog or menu is open. - Ignores held-key repeats and limits rapid repeated activation. - Does not automatically retry a deletion. SIMPLE AND LOCAL - Runs only on Gmail pages under mail.google.com/mail/. - No separate account, subscription, or Gmail API authorization is required. - No need to enable Gmail's built-in keyboard shortcuts. - No analytics, advertising, remote executable code, or developer-operated data service. - Keyboard events and the Gmail interface state are processed locally to perform the requested action. The extension does not extract email bodies, store user data, or transmit user data to the developer or third parties. This is an independent extension and is not affiliated with Google. Compatibility depends on Gmail's web interface and may need updating if Gmail changes its toolbar.
