Overview

See exactly what your extensions can reach — in plain language.

Glasshouse Inspector turns browser-reported extension permissions into a review you can understand. See what each installed extension declares, compare its reported reach with your open sites, and inspect a published Chrome Web Store package when you choose. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Read plain-language explanations of permissions and their consequences. • Compare declared host permissions with currently open HTTP(S) sites. • Follow local permission-change history and receive alerts about observed increases. • Search extensions and filter by enabled state, risk level and saved-scan status. • Run Code X-ray to inspect a Store package locally. Expand findings for referenced domains, dynamic-code patterns, library-version matches and source excerpts. • Rescan, cancel active work or forget a saved result. Version-matched saved findings contribute consistently to cards, sorting and popup totals. • Open Chrome's extension settings or disable an extension when Chrome permits it. YOUR DATA AND YOUR CHOICES Inventory, settings, change history, open-site comparisons and scan results stay in local browser storage. Optional site-origin counting is off by default and can be cleared. Glasshouse has no account, advertising, telemetry or cloud-sync feature. A Code X-ray scan is an explicit network request: your browser asks Google's package servers for the selected extension ID and exposes normal connection metadata such as your IP address. Analysis happens on your device. The Network Log lists request attempts. Opening or refreshing Glasshouse never launches a scan automatically. UNDERSTAND THE LIMITS Scores are prompts to review, not safety certifications or verdicts about developers. Static matches do not prove that code executed or that a connection occurred. Reported permissions do not prove current access; Chrome's per-site controls and temporary activeTab grants can change actual access. A Store package can differ from locally modified or sideloaded files. A mismatched or incomplete scan does not add a new saved score. English, Arabic and Hebrew interfaces; light/dark themes and numeral preferences. Arabic and Hebrew are labelled community-preview translations. Screenshots use demonstration extensions and example data.
