Overview

A calm security check for your extensions: see which can read every site and know when a trusted one gains new access.

See which of your extensions can read every site, and know when a trusted one gains new access. Glasshouse is a calm security check for the extensions you’ve installed. It gives you a colour-coded overview: every extension is red, amber or green by how far it can reach, and every permission is explained in plain language. WHAT THE COLOURS MEAN • Red: can read every site. It can see and change pages on every website you visit. • Amber: sensitive powers, such as your history, downloads or your other extensions. • Green: limited access. It works only on specific sites or with narrower permissions. • Grey: turned off, or Chrome didn’t report its permissions. Red means broad reach, not proof of misuse. Glasshouse doesn’t call an extension safe or malicious; it shows what each one can reach so you can decide. KNOW WHEN SOMETHING CHANGES Extensions update quietly. Glasshouse keeps a local snapshot of what each one could do and alerts you when an update asks for more access. SEE WHO CAN READ THE PAGE IN FRONT OF YOU Compare each extension’s declared site access with the sites you have open right now. LOOK CLOSER WHEN YOU WANT TO Code X-ray downloads a published extension’s package from Google only when you ask, then analyses it on your device: referenced domains, dynamic-code patterns and library versions, with source excerpts. You can also turn off an extension when Chrome allows it. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your extension list, history, settings and scan results stay on your device. There is no account, advertising, telemetry or cloud sync. The only request Glasshouse makes is the package download you choose to run, and the Network Log lists each one. If you remove Glasshouse, your browser opens a short goodbye page with one optional question. WHAT A RESULT IS NOT A colour or score is a starting point for review, not a security certification. A static match doesn’t prove that code ran or that a connection happened, and Chrome’s own site controls can limit what an extension actually reaches. ALSO GOOD TO KNOW • Works in Chrome and Brave. For Firefox, install Glasshouse from Firefox Add-ons. • English interface; Arabic and Hebrew are community-preview translations. • Light and dark themes. Free, with no account.
