Glance

See what a YouTube channel is really like before you commit your time to it.

Likes, subscriber counts and thumbnails tell you what gets clicked. They don’t tell you what a channel is like to spend time with. Glance reads the channel itself and gives it one verdict in plain words, on a four-step scale from Watch freely to Avoid. How it works • Visit any channel, video or Short and Glance picks it up automatically • See a channel’s verdict, or help fund one with credits • Each verdict comes with its strengths, what to watch for, where the channel is heading, and what it tends to make of its viewers • A separate label tells you how well its titles and thumbnails deliver on what they promise • Results are shared with everyone What Glance helps with • Finding channels that teach, build or add something real • Spotting channels that run on personality, framing or repetition more than substance • Seeing how a creator treats people and ideas, and whether that is shifting • Knowing what kind of viewer a channel is trying to make of you Features • One verdict per channel, with a plain-language write-up • Feed curation to filter channels by verdict on your homepage and in search • Search and browse channels already assessed • A catalog of every channel you’ve visited, kept on your device • Optional YouTube connection for managing subscriptions • Optional account sync so your preferences and catalog follow you to the Glance site Privacy-first • No watch history leaves your browser unless you turn on account sync • No analytics or telemetry
