Anava Local Connector

Lets your Anava site find, set up and manage the Axis cameras on your network from Chrome. Runs locally on your computer.

Anava Local Connector links your Anava site to the Axis cameras on your local network, so you can find, set up and manage them from Chrome. A website can't see devices on your local network by itself. The Local Connector closes that gap with two parts: this extension, and a small app on your computer that does the talking. You decide which sites may use it. WHAT IT DOES • Finds Axis cameras on your network, with model, address and firmware • Installs Anava on the ones you choose • Shows connection status from the toolbar icon • Checks for updates SET UP IN THREE STEPS 1. Add the extension. Click Add to Chrome. 2. Install the app. Click the toolbar icon and download the Local Connector app for your computer. It runs quietly in the background. 3. Allow your site. When it asks, approve it. Only approved sites can connect. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • The app listens on 127.0.0.1, so only your own computer can reach it. • An allow-list decides which sites can connect. Everything else is refused. • Requests go from the app straight to the camera on your network. • The extension does not store camera passwords. • After you install, and again if you uninstall, the extension opens an Anava page. Its address carries a random install ID and the extension version, which we use to measure setup and to learn why people uninstall. The privacy policy has the details.
