Overview
Save the job you’re looking at to your Factwright job hunt, and fill in its application for you to check.
This extension brings your Factwright job hunt into your browser: it saves the job you're looking at, and fills in its application for you to check and send, from Factwright on the same computer or from your job hunt through sync. Saving a job: on its page, click the Factwright button, and save it in one click: the popup shows the title, company, pay, place and posting it read, and Edit details lets you change them first. On a job you saved already, it shows the job and where it stands instead, and on the application of one you haven't, Save and fill does both, or Save only saves it to fill in later. Or press Alt+Shift+S, or right-click the page, to save it without opening anything. It reads the job details a page publishes, the layout of the job boards and applicant tracking systems people use most, or the text you selected, so it also saves postings you can only see when signed in. The job shows in Factwright on your computer as New, ready to check its fit, tailor a resume or write a cover letter, with the posting kept even after the listing comes down. Filling its application: click Fill this application, in the popup or the right-click menu, or press Alt+Shift+F, and it fills the form where you are, with a small note on the page that says how it went, such as "Factwright filled 14 fields · 2 need you". It answers each field you can see from what you've told Factwright: your profile and work history, the job's own resume and cover letter, and what you sent before. Its answer takes the place of what a field held, and it leaves alone a field it has no answer for, a box that agrees to something, and a file you attached yourself. What's left for you is outlined on the page, and the popup's Details opens a panel beside it: what needs you first, then every answer it filled and where it came from. It picks a place from the suggestions a location box offers, picks from a form's own lists, presses its Yes and No buttons, and fills a form that a company's careers page shows in a frame. An application that runs across several pages fills a page at a time: you go on with the form's own button and fill the next page when you get there, and a job or school the site filled in from your resume stays as it is. It never submits: you check the form and send it yourself. On a computer without Factwright: set up through sync, the extension fills from your job hunt itself, which it opens with your own keys, in memory, for the fill, and stores none of it. Your street, postal code and equal-opportunity answers never sync, so it leaves those for you. Once you've applied, it can keep a new answer you typed, such as a new phone number, in your profile through sync, if you choose Save, but never one of those three. Drafts of the rest: Factwright can have your own AI assistant draft the questions nothing on file answers, such as why you want the job, all of a form's open questions at once. Ask from the panel, which fills each draft in for you to check once it's done, or from a question's own menu on the job application sites you allow, where each draft waits for you to pick it. Through sync, they're ready at your next fill after it syncs. What only you can answer, it leaves for you. Right in the form, on the sites you allow: turn on the job application sites, in setup or the panel, and on those sites alone a small Fill button sits on an application form, and a field you click into shows a menu with your answers on file, which the site can't read. Nothing goes in a field from its menu until you pick an answer. When you submit an application there with the form's own button, and the page says it went in or moves on with no errors showing, Factwright marks the job applied, with what you sent, and a note on the page offers Undo. Anywhere else, Mark as applied is in the popup. One optional permission covers the sites where the applicant tracking systems most companies use show their forms, and you can add any careers site. Private by design: • It reads a page only when you click its button, its menu item or its shortcut, and nothing as you browse, except on the job application sites you allow, where it also notices when you submit an application yourself, to mark the job applied. The popup saves nothing until you click. To show whether you saved a job already, it asks Factwright on the same computer about the page's address, company and title alone, or reads your synced jobs in your browser. • Filling a form on the same computer, it asks Factwright for the answers, with the form's questions and never what's in them, and no server in between. Through sync, it reads your job hunt from your sync server, opens it with your own keys in your browser alone, and forgets it a few minutes after the fill. • It never fills a password or payment details, never agrees to anything for you, and never presses a form's button to go on or submit. • On the job sites whose terms forbid filling their forms, it fills nothing, and gives you answers to copy. • Saved to Factwright on the same computer, a job goes straight to the app, never to a server. Through sync, what it saves is locked on your computer with your job hunt's own key before it's sent, so the sync server stores it in a form it can't read. • It reaches no site but your sync server, Factwright's or one you run yourself, and has no analytics or tracking. The extension costs nothing to add. It needs Factwright, the free desktop app: factwright.com. It saves jobs and fills applications straight with Factwright on the same computer, with no account, or through sync from any computer, with Factwright's sync or a server of your own. Factwright's sync is $5 a month or $50 a year, and a server of your own is free: factwright.com/sync. Factwright is open source: github.com/factwright/factwright
