)Overview
Secure local-first browser control for AI agents.
Conduit Extension connects your Chrome browser to the local Conduit daemon, allowing authorized AI agents to safely perform browser tasks through MCP or the Conduit CLI. Features include: - List, open, focus, close, reload, and navigate browser tabs - Read visible text and structured page snapshots - Click, type, clear, select, scroll, wait, and capture screenshots - Inspect bounded console messages, uncaught exceptions, and network metadata - Run controlled runtime evaluation - Pause and resume approved JavaScript execution - Capture bounded performance traces - Enforce daemon permissions, domain policies, confirmations, and audit logging The extension communicates with the local Conduit daemon through Chrome Native Messaging. It does not use a remote cloud browser or send browsing data to Conduit servers. The Chromium debugger permission is required during installation because Chrome does not allow this permission to be requested later through the runtime permissions API. Debugging remains disabled by default at the daemon policy level and requires the explicit browser.debug capability. HTTP and HTTPS host access remains optional and is requested only from the user-controlled extension popup. Page content is treated as untrusted data, and sensitive actions require confirmation.
