GitHub UI Translator

Translates the GitHub UI locally using bundled language dictionaries.

A browser extension that translates GitHub’s English UI into Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, or Brazilian Portuguese using dictionaries bundled with the extension. 【Features】 ■ Translation runs entirely in the browser The extension does not use external translation APIs or cloud services. UI text on GitHub pages is processed only within the browser. Page content is not recorded, stored, or transmitted externally. ■ Reduces the risk of mistranslating user-created content The extension is designed to avoid user-created content—including README files, issues, pull requests, comments, and code blocks—as much as possible. Translation focuses primarily on fixed UI text such as navigation elements, buttons, and settings pages. ■ Supports five languages From the extension icon in the toolbar, you can select Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, or Brazilian Portuguese as the translation language. When you change a setting, open GitHub tabs are automatically reloaded to apply it. ■ Easily enable or disable translation You can enable or disable translation at any time and return to the original English UI. Global header translation can also be disabled separately. 【Current limitations】 ・The supported languages are Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, and Brazilian Portuguese ・Because the extension translates fixed UI text registered in its bundled dictionaries, unregistered text remains in English ・Dynamic text containing numbers or dates, such as “3 commits” or “opened 2 days ago,” may not be translated ・User-created content, such as user names, repository names, and submitted content, is generally excluded from translation ・Only github.com is supported. GitHub environments on other domains, including GitHub Enterprise Server, are not supported 【Open source】 This extension is available under the MIT License.
