GitHub UI Translator

Translates the GitHub UI locally using bundled language dictionaries.

GitHub UI Translator is a browser extension that translates GitHub's English UI into Japanese or Simplified Chinese using dictionaries bundled with the extension. 【Features】 ■ Translation stays in your browser No external translation APIs or cloud services are used. GitHub UI text is processed only within your browser. Page content is never recorded, stored, or transmitted externally. ■ Reduces the risk of mistranslating user-created content The extension is designed to avoid user-created content such as READMEs, Issues, Pull Requests, comments, and code blocks. It focuses on fixed UI text such as navigation items, buttons, and settings pages. ■ Supports Japanese and Simplified Chinese Select Japanese or Simplified Chinese from the extension popup. When you change the language or translation settings, open GitHub tabs are automatically reloaded to apply the changes. ■ Easily enable or disable translation Turn translation on or off at any time from the toolbar and quickly return to the original English UI. Global header translation can also be disabled separately. 【Current limitations】 ・Supported languages are Japanese and Simplified Chinese ・Only fixed UI text included in the bundled dictionaries is translated; unregistered text remains in English ・Dynamic text containing numbers or dates, such as "3 commits" or "opened 2 days ago," may not be translated ・User-created content, including user names, repository names, and submitted content, is generally outside the translation scope ・Only github.com is supported; GitHub environments on other domains, including GitHub Enterprise Server, are not supported 【Open source】 GitHub UI Translator is available under the MIT License.
