GitHub License Insights is a lightweight, responsive browser extension that helps developers instantly understand software licenses when browsing GitHub repositories. Features: Instant DOM scraping of the repository sidebar for zero-delay rendering. Comprehensive licensing breakdown (Allowed / Prohibited permissions) for standard licenses (MIT, Apache-2.0, GPL, etc.). Active scanning of license text to highlight complex or custom licensing clauses (like third-party licenses, directory exclusions, or enterprise exceptions). Caches API fetches using local storage to optimize network traffic and bypass API rate limits. Supports light, dark, and dimmed GitHub themes natively. How to use it: Install the extension. Visit any repository page on GitHub. View the license summary box injected on the right sidebar above the "About" section. Privacy/permissions: This extension respects your privacy. It does not collect, store, or transmit any user data. All operations, cache stores, and API requests happen entirely locally on your machine.
