Overview

Install any GitHub repository into VS Code in one click — auto-detects brew, pip, npm, cargo and more

GitHub Installer helps developers install packages and GitHub repositories faster directly from the browser. Official Developer: https://www.danimaster.com/ When you visit a supported GitHub, PyPI, or npm page, the extension detects the package or repository and prepares the correct install command. For GitHub repositories, it can read the project README through a local bridge and automatically detect common install methods such as npm, pip, pip3, brew, cargo, yarn, pnpm, composer, go install, and more. With one click, GitHub Installer can open VS Code and run the detected install command in your selected project. If the local bridge is not running, the extension safely falls back to copying the command to your clipboard so you can paste it manually. Key features: • One-click install from GitHub, PyPI, and npm pages • Smart README-based install command detection • Supports common package managers including npm, pip, brew, cargo, yarn, pnpm, composer, and Go • Opens VS Code with your selected project • Clipboard fallback when local bridge is offline • Floating “Install with AI” button on supported pages • Keyboard shortcuts for fast install and copy actions • Saves project paths locally in your browser Why install it? Developers often lose time copying repository URLs, reading README files, choosing the correct package manager, opening VS Code, and manually running terminal commands. GitHub Installer reduces that workflow into one simple action. This extension is especially useful for developers, AI coding users, open-source explorers, and anyone who frequently tests packages or installs GitHub repositories into local projects. Privacy: GitHub Installer only runs on supported developer package pages such as GitHub, PyPI, and npm. Project paths are stored locally using Chrome storage. The extension communicates with a local bridge at localhost:9876 only when available. It does not sell user data.
