Overview
Open GitHub repositories, Markdown files, and folders in GitCMS - the control plane for code-first marketing websites.
Open GitHub repositories, Markdown files, and folders directly in GitCMS. GitCMS is the visual content management system for code-first websites. Whether your site was built with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or by your development team, GitCMS helps people and AI agents manage content after the website goes live. **WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES** - Right-click a GitHub repository or supported content link and choose "Open in GitCMS." - Open the current GitHub repository, Markdown/MDX file, or folder using the toolbar button. - Type "gitcms" in the browser address bar to open a repository by name or GitHub URL. - Preserve repository, branch, and content location when navigating to GitCMS. **WHAT YOU CAN DO ON GITCMS.DEV** - Browse Markdown content from public GitHub repositories. - Edit Markdown and MDX content visually, without working directly with Git commands. - Manage structured content and media for connected websites. - Work with teammates through drafts, reviews, and publishing workflows. - Let supported AI agents participate in content workflows through MCP. - Keep your website content in your own Git repository. The editor, authentication, configuration, collaboration, and publishing features are part of the GitCMS web application—not features embedded inside this browser extension. **BUILT FOR CODE-FIRST WEBSITES** GitCMS works with repository-based content workflows for websites built with technologies such as Astro, Next.js, Hugo, and other supported frameworks. It's particularly useful for developers, agencies, founders, and teams who want to operate their websites after launch without moving content into a proprietary CMS database. **FREE BROWSER COMPANION** The extension is free to install and use. Browsing supported public repositories does not require a GitCMS account. Some editing, collaboration, and publishing features of the web application require an account or paid access. **PRIVACY** The extension processes selected GitHub URLs locally and opens GitCMS only when you invoke a shortcut. It does not inject content scripts, continuously monitor browsing, store credentials, or collect extension analytics. The selected repository and file location are included in the destination URL sent to GitCMS. Learn more: https://gitcms.dev Extension information: https://gitcms.dev/extension
