Parent Shield is a parental-control extension that protects teenagers where AI conversations actually happen: in the browser itself, on Chrome and Chromebook. Platform built-in controls require the teen to opt in, and Chromebook controls do not cover AI chatbots, so parents need a device-level layer. Parent Shield provides it: • Blocks porn & adult sites: a built-in list of major adult domains is blocked instantly, and parents can add any site. • Filters harmful AI replies: sexual, violence and drug content in AI answers is blurred on the device, clearly labelled. • Crisis support: if self-harm language appears, a calm banner shows helpline resources immediately (US: 988, worldwide: findahelpline.com). • Time limits & bedtime: caps daily AI chat time and pauses chats overnight; only the parent PIN resumes them. • Parent dashboard: PIN-protected view of today's and 7-day AI chat time plus protection events. • SafeSearch enforcement on major search engines, including image search. Privacy first: all scanning happens on the device. Conversations are never uploaded, stored as transcripts, sold or used for advertising. No account required.
