Ghostly
Overview
Your services exist while you are online. Ephemeral, identity-addressed peer-to-peer chat and local web apps over WebRTC.
Ghostly turns your browser into a peer. No account, no server, no trace. Messages are end-to-end encrypted and travel directly between peers over WebRTC. Peers find each other through a distributed hash table — there is no server in the middle, because there is no server at all. Your identity is a key, not an email address. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Encrypted chat — 256-bit NaCl secretbox, one to one or in a group • Voice, video and screen sharing — peer to peer, in a window you can set aside • Send files up to 100 MiB, straight to your contact • Share localhost — a contact opens a web app running on your machine, for as long as you are online • Sats — an ecash wallet with Lightning in and out; pasted invoices and tokens become cards you can pay or redeem EPHEMERAL BY DEFAULT Messages vanish from the DHT in about five hours. Everything else exists only while you are online: close the browser and your services are simply gone. Nothing is retained because there is nowhere to retain it. NO ACCOUNTS, NO TELEMETRY Ghostly never asks for an email, a phone number or a password, and collects no analytics. There is no backend that could receive your data.
