Ghost Writer turns text you provide into keystrokes at a pace you control. Choose a typing profile, adjust the rhythm, and start from a compact Chrome side panel. Everything runs locally—no account or subscription required. THIS EXTENSION IS FOR BETA TESTING. YOUR WORDS, YOUR PACE • Six profiles: Everyday, Focused, Thoughtful, Brisk, Hesitant, and Clean. • Natural, Steady, and By word typing modes. • Adjustable speed, rhythm variation, bursts, sentence and paragraph pauses, thinking pauses, and corrected typing mistakes. • A customizable 1–60 second start delay. Press Start, then click where your text should appear. • Local rhythm preview, Pause, Resume, Stop, and keyboard shortcuts. • Saved custom profiles, profile import/export, optional local drafts, and light/dark themes. CANVAS CLASSIC ACTIVITY FILTER The beta also includes a default-on filter for known Canvas Classic Quizzes activity-log batches on instructure.com and its subdomains. It works independently of typing, including when the panel is closed. Add a custom school Canvas hostname once in Settings to enable the same filtering there. Matching batches are blocked as a whole, including focus and other quiz-interaction log events within them. Answer-saving, login, uploads, and submission routes are not included in these rules. This is limited request filtering: it does not guarantee invisible tab switching, cover New Quizzes or third-party proctoring, or prevent every form of logging. Canvas may queue blocked events and send them after filtering is disabled or removed. Ghost Writer does not erase Canvas storage or server records, alter event payloads, or fabricate events. LOCAL PROCESSING Your typing preferences, profiles, and filter settings stay in Chrome local storage. Draft saving is off by default and available as an explicit option. Ghost Writer has no analytics, advertising, developer upload service, or remote code. The website you choose to type into may save or transmit that text under its own policies. HOW IT WORKS Open your document, open Ghost Writer, paste your text, and choose a profile. Press Start and place the cursor during the countdown. Thinking pauses continue automatically. Moving the cursor or changing tabs pauses typing to avoid writing in the wrong place. Chrome shows a debugging banner during typing because Ghost Writer uses browser-level input. The connection ends on Stop or completion. Close DevTools on the target tab before starting. The Canvas filter uses Chrome request-blocking rules and does not read request bodies or log browsing history. COMPATIBILITY Supports compatible webpage text fields and rich-text editors. It cannot type into desktop apps, password fields, Chrome settings, the Chrome Web Store, or inaccessible embedded editors. Google Docs has not been directly verified.
