Annotate PDF
Overview
Annotate PDF locally: add text notes, highlight selectable text, draw shapes, and download a marked copy.
Annotate PDF turns a document into clear feedback. Write on PDF pages, highlight a passage, and send a marked copy. This PDF annotator adds notes over the page without changing its original text, font, or layout. Choose your markup tools 🖍️ Highlight: use the PDF highlighter on selectable text, with a choice of colors. ⌨️ Text: add text to PDF pages; change note size, color, and transparent or white background. ↗️ Arrow: point to a detail with a straight or curved arrow. 🔲 Rectangle: outline a figure or a scanned area where text cannot be selected. Pages become sharp at your chosen zoom once rendering settles; brief previews may appear during navigation. Annotation tools stay responsive as you mark the page. Move, resize, or delete your own text boxes, arrows, and rectangles. Edit a note when its wording needs work. Highlights stay anchored to selected text. To highlight text in PDF scans, the text must already be selectable; there is no OCR. Otherwise, type on PDF pages beside a rectangle. Write on PDF pages with Annotate PDF 📂 Open a local file, find a page, and zoom in. 🔎 Highlight PDF passages and add a short explanation beside them. 📥 Review the result, choose Download PDF, and send the copy through your usual channel. Everyday feedback 📊 Add a note to a report asking whether a total matches the table. 📐 Point out a diagram detail with an arrow and a short note. 📚 Use the PDF highlighter to mark ideas for later reading. 💬 Add notes to PDF drafts beside the passage you want a colleague to check. 🧾 Write on PDF pages to flag a date without replacing the original entry. When you add text to PDF documents, keep it brief and clear of the source. Recipients see your PDF notes in an ordinary viewer without installing the extension. The downloaded file is a static copy, not a live discussion. Searchable source text and supported links remain intact. After you write on PDF pages again, download and send a new copy; an earlier attachment will not update. Resume your work 💾 One project saves automatically on your device. Wait for Saved before closing. ↩️ Undo and Redo cover up to 50 completed actions in the current session. Reopen Annotate PDF to restore the last successful save, including unfinished note text, your view, and tool settings. Unsaved changes may be lost. Undo/Redo history starts fresh after restoration. Before you start working on another file, download the current result: opening a new PDF replaces the single saved project. Clearing browser data can erase it. Local saving is not a cloud backup. Use one editor window. Check your work 👀 Keep PDF notes clear of information the recipient needs. 🎨 Highlight PDF facts in one color and questions in another. 📌 Eraser removes one whole annotation you added, leaving source content intact. 🚫 Select Eraser to reveal Clear All. It removes your annotations on every page; one Undo restores them all. 🖨️ Print uses the same annotated PDF as Download. You can cancel printing. 🔁 If PDF preparation takes time, wait; on an error, retry. If printing will not start, open the prepared PDF and print from there. Can I write on PDF pages to replace existing wording? Annotate PDF lets you type on PDF pages as added notes, not edit the original text or its font. There is no handwriting, signing, interactive form filling, or live collaboration. Write a suggested correction beside the passage for its author to review. Can Blur remove sensitive data? No. Blur only obscures an area visually; a note's white background only covers it. Original text can still be extracted, and links remain. Neither is secure redaction. This PDF annotator is for feedback, not permanent removal of confidential content. How do I highlight text in PDF files? In Annotate PDF, select a passage with the PDF highlighter, then add a note explaining why it matters. You can highlight PDF text for review or add notes to PDF reading material for yourself. Where are files processed? Locally on your device, including offline. Incognito is not supported. If a new file fails to open, return to your previous project. If saving fails, retry or download a copy before closing. Write on PDF pages when a comment needs context. Use Annotate PDF to mark what matters, add notes to drafts, and share a readable result.
