A shielded Zcash wallet by zooko.ai

ZOO Wallet is a Zcash wallet for Chrome. It keeps a shielded (private) balance and a public (transparent) balance, sends and receives ZEC on the Zcash main network, and moves funds between the two balances. WHAT IT DOES - Home shows your shielded and public balances. It also shows money on its way in until its third confirmation, and your payment history with All, Private and Public tabs. - Send: enter the recipient's address and the amount. The wallet tells you whether the payment will be private (to a shielded address), public (to a transparent address) or to an exchange (a TEX address). It shows the network fee, at least 0.0001 ZEC, before you send. Payments are made from your shielded balance. - Receive: a private (unified) address or a public address, with a QR code and a copy button. - Shield moves your public balance into your shielded balance. Unshield moves shielded funds to your own public address. - Each payment shows its steps (Preparing, Proving, Sending) until the network has accepted it. The proof that keeps a payment private is built on your computer. - Create a wallet with a new 24-word recovery phrase, or restore one from a recovery phrase. One wallet can hold several accounts. - The wallet locks after a period without activity (1 to 60 minutes, 10 by default) and when your computer's screen locks. - Use it in the toolbar popup, in a separate window or in Chrome's side panel. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE - Your recovery phrase, encrypted with your password. ZOO has no copy of it and cannot recover it. - While the wallet is unlocked, the keys it needs are held in Chrome's session storage. This storage is kept in memory and cleared when the wallet locks or Chrome closes. - The wallet's records: your accounts' viewing keys, addresses, received notes and payment history, plus earlier copies of these records that the wallet keeps after a rescan or restore. They are stored in the extension's storage on this computer. They are not encrypted with your password. Anyone who can open your Chrome profile can read them, and they can show your balances and history, but they cannot be used to spend. - ZOO Wallet has no user accounts, no sign-up, no email, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Every font, icon and image ships inside the extension. WHAT THE LIGHT SERVER SEES To read the Zcash blockchain and to send payments, the wallet connects to a Zcash light server (lightwalletd) at lwd.zooko.ai, which is run for ZOO Wallet. If that server falls behind the chain, requests are passed on to another public light server (zec.rocks). - The wallet downloads blocks and finds your shielded payments on your computer. The server does not learn which shielded payments are yours. - The server sees your IP address and the times you connect. - It sees your public (transparent) addresses when the wallet asks for their history and unspent funds. - It sees each transaction you send. A shielded transaction does not show its shielded addresses or amounts; a public one does, as on any blockchain. "View on explorer" opens mainnet.zcashexplorer.app, a third-party site, in a new tab, and only when you press it. That site sees your IP address and the transaction ID. YOUR FUNDS AND KEYS ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY - ZOO Wallet does not hold your funds or your keys. Write down your recovery phrase and keep it offline. Without it, a forgotten password or a removed extension means the funds cannot be recovered. - Removing the extension from Chrome deletes every account and record on this computer. To update, let Chrome replace it; never remove it first. - Zcash payments cannot be reversed. Check the whole address before you send.
