📦 Claude Project Downloader Keep a local copy of your work from claude.ai without manually copying long conversations or saving every item separately. Use the on-page panel to choose what to keep, find earlier messages, and organize your work. Whether you are finishing a research task, handing over documentation, or keeping a record of an ongoing assignment, the extension helps you preserve the material you need in a form you can use later. 🚀 1. Key Features ⚡ Save a Whole Project or Selected Files Collect instructions, conversations, and available knowledge files in one organized archive. You can also save all files, all chats, or a single item when you only need part of the work. Original file formats are preserved where available. Supported text content can be converted for easier reading in your notes. 💬 Choose the Right Conversation Format Save an individual chat from its page or from the extension panel. 📄 Markdown (.md) – A readable transcript for notes and documentation. 🗂️ JSON (.json) – Structured conversation data for further processing. 📦 ZIP (.zip) – A transcript with accessible attachments and generated artifacts kept together. 🖨️ PDF (.pdf) – A printable document with formatted code and tables. This option opens Chrome’s print dialog so you can preview the result and choose Save as PDF. Remember your preferred format for one-click downloads. Hold Shift while clicking Download whenever you want to choose again. 🔎 Search Message Content Look beyond conversation titles with full-text search, phrase matching, and snippets that show where a match was found. The Library tab builds a search index on your computer. Update it to include more recent work, pause indexing, or clear the index when you no longer need it. 🗂️ Organize and Manage Items Create local folders for different topics and arrange chats or projects inside the extension. Select items or drag them into a folder to keep related work together. Export a selection or manage several items at once. Ordinary chats can also be moved between projects or deleted after confirmation. Folder organization stays local; moving or deleting a chat changes it in your original account. 💾 Manual and Scheduled Backups (Pro) Choose selected or all standard chat projects, with the option to include conversations and Cowork tasks outside them. Run a backup when needed or set a daily or weekly schedule using your computer’s local time. Follow progress, cancel an active run, and review its history or reports for unavailable items. Saved archives go to your computer, and an active run continues after you close the panel. Chrome must remain open and signed in to Claude for scheduled runs. 💻 Code and Cowork Support Save supported sessions and their available generated files from their pages. Code projects can be exported from the active page; they are not part of the account-wide backup selection. 📊 Usage and Context Tools View available session and weekly account usage, including model-specific information where provided. Inspect file sizes and token estimates to identify larger context items. An optional on-page usage meter is available when enabled. Token counts and long-conversation size estimates are approximate. 🧠 Help with Unavailable Originals When an original file cannot be retrieved, the extension identifies the missing content. For supported recovery cases, it offers a ready-to-copy prompt that you can paste into a conversation to request the original. The prompt is not sent automatically, and recovery depends on whether the source remains accessible. Partial archives include reports so you can see what was omitted. 📋 2. How to Use 1️⃣ Open claude.ai Sign in and navigate to the material you want to save. 2️⃣ Open the Panel Click the extension icon in Chrome’s toolbar. Supported chats also have a Download button next to Share. 3️⃣ Choose Your Content Select a single item or a complete collection, then review the available output settings. 4️⃣ Save to Your Computer Start the download and check the result. For the printable option, complete the save in Chrome’s print dialog. 5️⃣ Organize or Schedule Use Library to find and group earlier work. Use Backups to choose a scope and schedule when your plan supports it. 🎯 3. Practical Uses 📚 Research and Writing Keep a dated copy of drafts and source discussions before making further changes. Search earlier messages when you need to revisit a decision or find a useful explanation. 💻 Documentation and Handover Preserve technical discussions alongside the available generated work. Use the saved material as a starting point for your own notes, documentation, or a handover to a colleague. 🗄️ Offline Reference Keep completed work accessible on your computer when you are away from the service. Choose a readable transcript for quick reference or an archive when related resources matter. 🔒 4. Privacy and Storage 🔐 Local processing – Archive creation happens in your browser. Exported content is not uploaded to our servers for processing. 🔎 Local search – Library stores searchable message text on this computer. You can clear the index from its controls. 🗂️ Local organization – Folder assignments and search data are kept separately for each Claude organization. 💻 Direct saving – Downloads are saved to your computer, where you control how they are stored or shared. Content access uses your existing signed-in session. A separate extension account is used for paid features and billing. ✨ 5. Free and Pro Free includes five individual file or chat downloads per local day and one shared, one-time bulk export. That single allowance covers an entire project, all files, all chats, or a Library selection. It also includes three local folders, the first five matching search results, and up to five selected items per group action. Pro removes these plan limits and enables both manual and scheduled backups. Technical size and action limits still apply.
