Overview

Quickly use md editor to write and preview files with a markdown editor, markdown viewer, and md viewer in Chrome.

📝 One Chrome workspace Open local documents, read formatted pages, edit source, compare a live preview, and save changes without leaving Chrome. Md Editor combines a markdown editor, markdown viewer, and file browser for notes, README pages, documentation, and checklists. 📂 Open content your way 1️⃣ Choose a document or drop it into the workspace 2️⃣ Browse a project folder and select an entry 3️⃣ Enter a direct http or https address If you are learning how to open .md file content, begin from the extension toolbar. You can also open md files by dragging them onto the tab. Chrome may request permission before documents load automatically from disk. ✍️ Edit beside a live preview The source editor places editable text next to the rendered result. Synchronized scrolling helps you follow the same section in both panes. - Write with line numbers and optional wrapping - Apply bold, italics, inline code, links, and tables - Use undo and redo during longer revisions - Resize the split panes for a comfortable layout - Compare every update before saving The workspace supports quick corrections and detailed drafts. Searches for md editor online or online md editor lead to an extension that keeps browser controls explicit for every source. 👁️ Read a structured page The markdown viewer renders common elements as a clean document: • Headings with anchors and an active outline • Paragraphs, lists, and blockquotes • Links and embedded images • Tables and interactive task items • Footnotes and fenced code blocks • Diagrams written in supported Mermaid blocks • Light and dark themes for comfortable reading Use the result as a markdown reader when raw syntax is difficult to scan. A focused rendered view keeps the original text ready for correction. It also helps anyone learning how to read markdown files connect the source with its formatted result. 🗂 Browse related documents Open a folder to move through supported content in a tree: ➤ Review README files and project notes ➤ Switch between guides without reopening the picker ➤ Follow the outline through longer material Chrome asks for folder permission again after a browser restart. Access stays visible while the md reader helps you navigate related material and return to a recent folder when permission is available. 🔄 Follow a simple editing cycle 1. Open the source you need 2. Inspect the formatted result and choose Edit 3. Revise the text and check the updated preview 4. Save when write access is available For hosted content, the markdown viewer online workflow begins after you enter a compatible direct address. This online markdown viewer stays in Chrome without claiming it can overwrite a remote website. 💾 Save with confidence - Press Save or Ctrl+S / Cmd+S to write back when permission allows - Recover an unsaved draft and review conflicts if the disk version changed A remote source can be revised, then copied or saved to a writable local destination. The extension explains limitations instead of presenting hosted content as editable on its original server. 🎯 Useful for everyday work ▸ Update project documentation in the editing workspace ▸ Inspect release notes through an md file reader ▸ Prepare technical drafts in the markdown editor ▸ Review hosted instructions with a markdown reader online ▸ Check a formatted page in the rendered preview ▸ Organize study notes with headings and task items The online md reader path works with compatible content at a direct URL. The .md reader path serves local notes when you prefer a formatted page before editing. 📊 See helpful document details Word and line counts, cursor position, encoding, line endings, table and diagram totals, and estimated reading time add useful context. The sidebar and outline keep navigation close while the main area remains focused. 🔐 Understand permissions and privacy Q: Is an account required? A: No. Reading and editing happen in the browser. Q: Why is storage permission used? A: It keeps preferences and recovery information on the device. Q: When is a remote document requested? A: Only when you enter its address or visit a compatible document link. Ordinary web pages remain unchanged because the extension responds only to supported paths and actions. 🚀 Start reading and writing Choose the extension to open supported content, inspect a polished page, revise the source, and verify the result in one Chrome workspace. Follow each document from first view to final save.
