Overview
Block distracting sites and actually stay off them — a full-screen focus nag you can't dismiss on autopilot.
You don't need another site blocker you'll switch off in a week. You need one that fights back. Get Off That Site blocks the websites that eat your day - Reddit, YouTube, X, the news, whatever your "just five minutes" happens to be - and then makes it genuinely hard to weasel past your own rules. Most blockers show the same tired "blocked!" screen you learn to click through without thinking. This one won't let you. When your time is up on a site you chose to block, a full-screen nag takes over the tab - and it's different EVERY SINGLE TIME: new colours, new layout, a new message that guilt-trips you from a selection of hundreds, a fresh little illustration. Muscle memory never gets a chance to form. WHY IT ACTUALLY WORKS • Un-dodgeable across every tab. The timer is shared per site, so opening the same site in five tabs won't buy you five fresh timers. • Hold, don't click. "Pause" isn't a button you tap - you press and HOLD it. Slip off and it resets. • Escalating friction. Every pause you take today makes the next one harder to earn. After the third, you have to type out a confession before it unlocks. • It keeps score. Pauses, snoozes and walk-aways are tallied for the day and shown back to you: "This would be pause #5 today. Really?" • A reflection beat. The "keep scrolling" options stay locked for a few seconds so you actually read the message. The healthy "get me out" button is always one easy click. HOW TO USE IT 1. Click the icon and add the sites that eat your time - or block the current one with a single click. 2. Set your daily focus window: how long you're allowed before the nag appears. 3. Get back to work. When you overstay, the wall shows up. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No tracking. No analytics. The extension makes ZERO network requests - your blocklist, your timers and your daily tally never leave your device, and they're deleted the moment you uninstall. It works completely offline.
