GenHelper helps genealogists save important record pages fast, so you never lose a source again. With one click, GenHelper saves the current page as a “source bookmark” with useful metadata (URL, title, site, date saved, and more when available). Everything is stored locally in your browser. No account required. Key features - One-click saving of the current record page - Works on popular genealogy sites and any other website (generic fallback) - Best-effort metadata extraction (more context when available) - Optional fields: person name and tags - Review recent saved records directly in the popup - Click a saved item to reopen the page in a new tab - Edit person name/tags later - Delete single entries or delete all - Export your saved records to CSV - Export your saved records to an Excel file (.xls) for easy use in Microsoft Excel Supported sites (v1) - Matricula Online - FamilySearch - MyHeritage - Ancestry - Any website (fallback save always works) Privacy - Local-only storage (chrome.storage.local) - No external network calls by the extension - No analytics - No page content is stored (metadata only) - You can delete everything at any time Free version limit The free MVP is limited to 10 saved records. When the limit is reached, export and delete older records to continue. GenHelper is designed for hobby genealogists who work with many tabs and want a simple, reliable way to collect sources while researching.
