GemType is a free, open-source Grammarly alternative. It checks your grammar and spelling and rewrites your text as you type, on any website — powered by Google's Gemini AI and your own free API key. No account, no subscription, and no company server in the middle. HOW IT WORKS - Type in any text field on the web - Mistakes get a wavy underline a second after you pause - Click an underline to accept the fix (Ctrl/Cmd+Z always undoes it) - After each fix, the surrounding sentence is automatically re-checked REWRITE ON DEMAND Select any text and choose Improve, Fix grammar, Shorten, Formal, or Casual — from a floating toolbar or the right-click menu. Rewrites keep your meaning; corrections keep your exact wording.
