Overview

Gemini usage limits in your chat: current window and weekly quota, percent used, reset times.

Know how much Gemini you have left, without leaving your chat. Requires a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. Free accounts don't have Google's usage page, so there is nothing for this extension to read and the widget will not appear. Please check your plan before installing. Gemini Usage Extension adds a small floating widget to gemini.google.com that shows your current usage window and your weekly limit as two simple progress bars. The numbers come straight from Google's own usage page, read in your browser. No dashboards to open, no second tab, no guessing why you suddenly hit a rate limit mid-conversation. It is deliberately small. Two bars, a percentage, a reset time, and a plan badge. That is the whole interface. KEY FEATURES Current window and weekly limit at a glance Two progress bars show percent used for your current usage window and your weekly quota, updated from Google's usage page. Reset times, straight from Google Each bar shows the reset text Google reports for that limit, so you know when your quota comes back. Color coded status Bars are green up to 60% used, amber above 60%, and red above 85%. You get a read on your remaining quota without reading numbers. Refreshes on its own Usage updates automatically after each Gemini response finishes, when you switch back to the Gemini tab, and when you move between supported pages. There is also a manual refresh button if you want to force it. Plan badge Shows a PRO or ULTRA badge based on the tier shown on your usage page. Works across your Google accounts If you use Gemini under /u/1, /u/2 and so on, the widget reads the usage for the account you are actually in, not your default one. Works beyond the main chat Active on the main chat, image generation, active Gem conversations, and active notebook pages. Catalog and management views are intentionally skipped so the widget only appears where it is useful. Put it where you want it Drag the widget anywhere, and it stays there. Collapse it to a compact bar that still shows both percentages inline, or close it for the session. Ten themes, synced Pick from ten presets with a single slider, or reset to the default that follows Gemini's own light and dark mode. Your choice syncs across the computers where you are signed in to Chrome. Stays out of the way The widget renders in an isolated Shadow DOM so it cannot clash with Gemini's styles. If the usage page cannot be reached, it removes itself instead of showing an error. WHY THESE PERMISSIONS Access to gemini.google.com Needed to place the widget on the page and to read your usage figures from Google's own usage page. The extension runs on gemini.google.com and nowhere else. Storage Remembers where you dragged the widget, whether you collapsed it, and which theme you picked. Your theme choice uses Chrome's sync storage so it follows you between computers. Nothing else is stored. declarativeNetRequest Google's usage page sets headers that stop it from being displayed inside another page. To read your figures without sending you to a second tab, the extension loads that page in a hidden frame and removes those two headers for it. The rule is limited to frames on gemini.google.com that were started by gemini.google.com. It applies to nothing else, on no other site. PRIVACY This extension makes no network requests of its own. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixel, no remote server, and no background process. Your usage figures are read from a page Google already serves you, displayed in the same tab, and never sent anywhere. The only data stored is your widget position, collapsed state, and theme preference. FAQ I installed it and I don't see the widget. The most common reason is that your account does not have a paid Google AI plan. The widget reads Google's usage page, and free accounts don't have one, so there is nothing to display. Google Workspace and enterprise accounts often cannot reach that page either. If you do have a paid plan, check that you are on a supported page — the main chat, images, an active Gem, or an active notebook — and reload. Google changes plan rollouts from time to time, so availability can vary. Which plans does it work with? Personal accounts on Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra, where Google's usage page is available. It does not work on free accounts, and usually not on Workspace or enterprise accounts. When do the numbers update? Automatically after a Gemini response completes, when you return to the Gemini tab, and on navigation between supported pages. There is no fixed timer, and no polling in the background. You can always refresh manually. Does it work with multiple Google accounts? Yes. It detects the /u/ number in the URL and reads usage for that account. Does it show per model or per token usage? No. It reports the same two figures Google publishes: your current window and your weekly limit.
