Unofficial token counter and usage bars for Gemini. Export any chat to Markdown, and check your limits from the toolbar. Unofficial extension, not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Google. Gemini Token Counter adds a small heads-up display to gemini.google.com so you always know where you stand before you hit a limit, and lets you take a conversation with you when you are done. WHAT IT SHOWS ON THE PAGE: Approximate token count for the current conversation, in a small pill at the top left of the chat. Click it for a table of each Gemini model's context window on each plan, with your plan marked. The count covers your prompts, Gemini's replies and the documents it wrote; uploaded files, images, thinking and Gemini's own instructions are not included. 5 hour and weekly usage bars inside the message box, read from Gemini's own usage data, the same figures its usage page shows. Bars turn amber at 75 percent and red at 90 percent, so a limit is obvious before you reach it. A thin line on each bar shows how far through the window you are, so you can tell whether you are using your allowance faster than the clock. When a window resets, the bar moves straight into the next one. Everything is drawn in Gemini's own style, follows its light and dark theme, and explains itself in a tooltip. EXPORT A CONVERSATION: One click saves the open chat as Markdown or plain text. The export contains every turn in the conversation, not only what is on screen, with the reply Gemini chose, the documents it wrote in full (Canvas and Deep Research reports) and the names of files you attached. Thinking summaries and the drafts Gemini did not choose are left out. Everything is built in your browser and saved straight to your downloads. CHECK YOUR LIMITS FROM ANY TAB: Click the toolbar icon to see your 5 hour and weekly limits, when each resets and when they were last read, from any page and not only Gemini. Each signed-in Google account keeps its own figures; the popup names the account shown by its email and, if you use more than one, lets you pick which to see. A refresh button fetches current numbers, and a settings panel lets you switch off anything you would rather not see on Gemini: the token counter, the export button, either usage bar, or the refresh control. There is also a one click bug report, which opens a prefilled GitHub issue for you to review before anything is sent. PRIVACY: Everything happens locally in your browser. The extension reads Gemini's own responses to get your usage figures and uses a built in tokenizer to estimate token counts. Nothing is sent to any server other than gemini.google.com, and no conversation content is ever stored or transmitted. Your account's email is kept only in your browser, to name the account in the popup, and is never sent anywhere or included in a bug report. There is no analytics and no telemetry. PERMISSIONS: The extension runs only on gemini.google.com and asks for one permission, storage, which is used to remember your settings and each account's last usage reading so the toolbar popup has something to show. The popup's own access to gemini.google.com is optional and requested only if you press refresh there. Open source at github.com/kr7shnasomani/gemini-token-counter
