Overview
Opens an interactive process report showing the edit history of a Google Doc.
💡What is the Process Feedback extension? The Process Feedback extension pulls the edit history of a Google Doc and turns it into a writing process report. This interactive report displays the writing process as numerical summaries and engaging charts. It includes details such as breaks taken during the writing process, typing fluency, copy-paste events, time spent on each paragraph, time allocated to revision versus content creation, and total typing time. 💡How to Use the Extension? ➛ Step 1: Add this extension to your browser. ➛ Step 2: Open your Google document. ➛ Step 3: Find the “View Process Report” button near the menu bar and click on it. 💡How to Share Your Process Report With Others? ➛ Share Link: Copy the URL of the report link and share it. ➛ Share PDF: In the sidebar, click “Download Process Report” to obtain a PDF of the process report. 💡Who Is It For? The extension is designed primarily for students to self-reflect on their writing process. Students can also share their writing process reports with their teachers as a link or download the process report as a PDF report to share with their peers or teachers. 💡How Does It Work? The extension pulls all the edit history of your Google Doc and turns the writing journey into an interactive process report. 💡 Limitations The extension is not well-tested with large documents with 100K+ changes or 100K+ characters. Its text styling also is not perfect yet. If you run into issues using the extension, please email us at contact@processfeedback.org. 💡Terms and Conditions By installing the extension, you agree to and acknowledge the terms and conditions at https://processfeedback.org/terms/ 💡Privacy Policy ➛ Gdoc Process Feedback collects the edit history of the Google Document so the process report can be shared as a link. Collected data is stored only so that users can view reports with the process report link. Also, collected data are automatically deleted after six months, and the links expire. ➛ For co-edited documents, always obtain permission from all co-authors before viewing or sharing process reports. ➛ If your document contains sensitive information and you do not need a public link, please the “Gdoc Process Data” extension instead. 💡 Please Cite Adhikari, Badri; “Thinking Beyond Chatbots’ Threat to Education: Visualizations to Elucidate the Writing or Coding Process”; Education Sciences; 2023.
