Overview

Save and restore browser workspaces with tabs, pinned state, and tab groups. Edge Workspaces-style for Comet.

Save a browser window — every tab, pinned tab and tab group, plus the tab you were on — as a named workspace, and reopen it in a new window with one click. Switch between projects without losing your place. Save your "Client research" window before you start on "Q4 planning", then bring either back as you left it. WHAT IT DOES • Save the current window as a named workspace (the Save button, or Alt+Shift+S). • Reopen a workspace in a new window with one click. Alt+Shift+O reopens the most recently updated one. • Live sync: link a window and its workspace keeps itself up to date as you browse. • Tags and search: filter by name, site or #tag. • Rename, retag and reorder workspaces, and remove tabs from one. • Export every workspace to a JSON file, and import them again. • Keyboard shortcuts can be changed at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. WHERE YOUR WORKSPACES ARE KEPT Workspaces are stored in your browser's built-in sync storage. In Chrome, if you are signed in with sync on, they are also available on your other computers; otherwise they stay on this one. A recovery copy and your settings stay on this device only. Sync storage is small (about 100 KB), which is a few dozen workspaces, depending on how many tabs each has. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking. • The extension makes no network requests of any kind: nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party. • It reads your tabs' addresses and titles only to save and restore them. No access to page content: no content scripts, no host permissions. • Site icons are coloured letter tiles made on your device. • Optional diagnostic logging, off by default, never records page addresses, titles or workspace names. Comet Workspaces is an independent extension by Kyt, Wellington, New Zealand. It is made for Comet and Chrome, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Perplexity AI, Google or Microsoft.
