Overview

Remember the lectures you watch: quiz breaks for long YouTube lectures, with a summary and an interactive quiz in Gemini.

Remember the lectures you watch. We spend hours on great lectures, and within days most of it is gone. Testing yourself is the most reliable way to make it stick. Edu Filter adds quiz breaks to long YouTube lectures, made by Google Gemini. HOW IT WORKS 1. Watch any lecture on YouTube. 2. Gemini checks in a background tab whether the video is educational. Entertainment is left alone. 3. About every 40 minutes of the video, a small card appears. The video keeps playing. 4. Click "Summary and quiz": Gemini writes a summary of that stretch by timestamps and a clickable quiz on it. QUESTIONS THAT TEST UNDERSTANDING No "what year" or "who said". The quiz asks you to apply an idea to a new case, explain why something works, predict what changes, or spot the mistake in a plausible claim. Every explanation links back to the moment in the video. WHY QUIZZES - Testing beats re-reading: a week later, 61% recalled vs 40% (Roediger & Karpicke, 2006). - Quizzes inside a video lecture halved mind-wandering and improved learning (Szpunar, Khan & Schacter, 2013). FREE, NO API KEY Edu Filter uses the Gemini web app in your own browser, with your own Google account. No API key, no server, no sign-up. You only need to be signed in at gemini.google.com. SETTINGS - Quiz every ~40 minutes. Breaks move to the nearest chapter start, so a quiz doesn't cut a topic in half. - Questions per quiz: 7 by default, 1 to 20. - Edit the prompts: language, style, difficulty. PRIVACY Nothing is collected or sent anywhere except your own Gemini chat. The list of processed videos stays in your browser.
