gc(tab) | Auto Close Inactive Tabs & Free Up RAM
Overview
Too many tabs? Auto-close inactive and duplicate tabs to free up RAM. Per-site rules, tab protection and one-click restore.
Install gc(tab) and it starts working straight away. Tabs you haven't visited in 3 days close automatically, and duplicates close after 2 hours. Anything it closes is one click away in Recently Closed. Pinned tabs and tabs playing audio are never closed. You can protect individual tabs, whole domains or tab groups, or set a different timeout for any site. It also closes tabs Chrome has already put to sleep, including through Memory Saver, and closes tabs sooner when your system runs low on memory. FEATURES • Auto-Close — Closes tabs you haven't used for a set time. The default is 3 days. • Faster Clean-Up When Memory Is Low — Shortens timeouts when system memory runs low, helping prevent browser slowness. • Live Performance Dashboard — Monitor system memory pressure in real time with interactive sparkline graphs and tracking details. • Duplicate Tab Clean-Up — Finds tabs with the same URL, keeps the most recently used copy and closes the others. • Custom Rules and Whitelisting — Set specific timeouts for individual websites or protect entire domains and tab groups from being closed. • One-Click Restore — Reopen any closed tab from the Recently Closed list. • Private by Design — Your tab URLs, page content, and browsing history never leave your device. Settings and history are stored locally. HOW TO USE IT Fast Start 1. Install gc(tab). 2. That's it. Detailed instructions 1.
