Overview

Save Teams live captions as private, searchable transcripts. Automatically enable captions and save on hang-up.

Save Microsoft Teams live captions as private, searchable meeting transcripts — quietly, with no audio recording or in-meeting announcement from the extension. Teams Caption Recorder turns the live caption text shown in a Teams browser meeting into a local meeting notebook. After one-time permission, it can automatically enable Teams' native live captions when a call starts. When you leave, the transcript finishes and saves itself. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Capture the Teams live captions that appear during supported browser meetings. • Keep speaker labels, meeting titles, and approximate caption timestamps. • Automatically start a transcript after joining and automatically finish after hang-up. • Pause, resume, or finish capture from the Chrome toolbar. • Review, rename, search, and delete locally saved meeting transcripts. • Export TXT, Markdown, JSON, or WebVTT files when you choose. PRIVATE AND SILENT • No microphone recording, audio output, bot joining the meeting, or custom recording banner. • No developer-hosted storage, analytics, ads, account, or automatic transcript upload. • Captions and meeting metadata remain in your browser profile until you delete them. • Automatic caption capture is OFF on a fresh install until you opt in. HOW TO USE 1. Install the extension and read the one-time privacy/consent setup. 2. Enable automatic capture if you agree, then join a meeting in Teams on the web. 3. The extension tries to switch on Teams live captions without interrupting your call. 4. Leave the meeting normally; open the extension's transcript library to review or export. IMPORTANT LIMITS Teams produces the captions, not this extension. It cannot capture speech from before captions were enabled or replay a past meeting. It works on supported Teams web pages in Chrome/Edge; it does not capture from the native Teams desktop application. Teams menu updates or non-English interfaces may require manual caption enablement. Browser timestamps are observations, not exact audio timings. Please obtain any necessary meeting-participant consent and follow your organization's policies before saving conversation text. Independent third-party extension.
