GCCH - Google Chat Code Highlighter
Overview
Syntax highlighting and a copy button for code blocks in Google Chat.
GCCH adds syntax highlighting and a copy button to code blocks in Google Chat, which normally renders them as flat, uncolored monospace text with no easy way to copy them. WHAT IT DOES • Automatically highlights code blocks in Chat conversations using highlight.js • Adds a one-click copy button to every code block • Detects the language automatically, or uses the language tag if the sender included one • Supports light and dark themes that match your system/Chat theme • Optional: enable the same highlighting inside Chat when it's embedded in Gmail WHY IT'S SAFE • Runs entirely locally — no network requests, no analytics, no data collection • The original message is never modified, only visually enhanced — Chat's native "copy message" and message data stay untouched • Disabling the extension instantly restores the page, no reload needed • Fully open source: https://github.com/StructZ/GCCH PERMISSIONS • storage: saves your preferences (theme, enabled languages, etc.) • scripting: only used if you opt in to Gmail support, to inject the highlighter there • chat.google.com: where the extension runs • mail.google.com (optional, off by default): only requested if you enable "Chat in Gmail" in the popup Built for developers, on-call engineers, and anyone who pastes code, logs, or stack traces into Google Chat and wants it to actually be readable.
