GCal WorkShade
Overview
Shades non-working hours and weekends on Google Calendar. Configurable, instant, fully private — no account needed.
GCal WorkShade overlays a soft visual shade on the parts of your Google Calendar that fall outside your working hours — so your actual work time stands out at a glance. FEATURES • Off-hours shading — dims time slots before your work start and after your work end • Weekend shading — dims Saturday and Sunday columns in week view • Fully configurable — set your exact work hours down to the minute • Adjustable intensity — from a subtle tint to a strong overlay • Instant updates — changes apply to every open Google Calendar tab immediately • Reset to defaults — one click to restore original settings PRIVACY FIRST GCal WorkShade runs entirely in your browser. It makes zero network requests, collects no analytics, and requires no account or sign-in. The only thing it stores is your display preferences (work hours, shading intensity), saved locally via your browser's built-in sync. It never reads or transmits your calendar's actual content — events, titles, attendees, or anything else. HOW IT WORKS The extension detects Google Calendar's time grid and draws a translucent overlay on top of it — purely visual, it doesn't change your calendar data in any way. Open the popup from the toolbar icon to adjust your work hours, toggle weekend shading, or change the shade intensity. Changes take effect instantly across all open Google Calendar tabs. Works in Week and Day views where the time grid is visible.
