Overview

A Quarb session over the pages you read — grab them, load a site from its sitemap, mount files, join across them. Entirely local.

Quarb turns the page you are reading into something you can query. Open the side panel, press Grab, and the page mounts as a source inside a Quarb session that runs entirely in your browser: the engine is WebAssembly bundled in the extension, and nothing you grab, ask, or receive leaves your machine. Quarb is a query language for tree-shaped data. The same syntax reads a web page, a JSON document, or a CSV export, so a query written against a page reads the same way against a data file. `//a::href` lists every link target; `//a | %(text = ::; href = ::href)` makes records of them; `//section::lemma` names the headings of the page read as prose. What the panel does: - Grab a page. The active tab's rendered DOM becomes the source; JSON and XML responses are detected and mounted as such. Grab other tabs and they accumulate as named sources. - Read at two levels. Each source has a switch between DOM (elements, attributes) and the text (sections, paragraphs, quotes, lists). - Load a site. Name a sitemap.xml, see how many pages it lists, filter and cap the set, and load it as one source at the web level: every page with its links and backlinks, PageRank, broken links, and full text. Loaded pages are cached locally, so the next load of the same site fetches nothing. - Mount files beside the pages, whether a JSON export, a CSV, or a SQLite database. One query spans them all, joins included. - Keep a session. Every line becomes &N and can be reused; results build on results. Attach a model file to derive structure over the sources. - Pick from DevTools. Select an element in the Elements panel and its Quarb path lands in the query box, ready to refine. - Follow links. A result that holds links can be followed: each opens in a background tab, is grabbed like any page, and joins the session. The click is the consent and the query is the selection. - Download any result as a file, or copy it with Shift-click. Pipe into `| json`, `@| jsonl`, or `@| kaiv` to pick a format. A kaiv download carries provenance, every value stamped with its page and the instant it was grabbed. - Alt+Q opens the panel from anywhere. The Expand button expands it to a full-width tab. Starter queries in the panel cover each kind of source. Learn the language at <https://quarb.org> and try it without installing anything at <https://demo.quarb.org>.
