MeshDepot Importer

Import the design you are looking at - MakerWorld, Printables, Thingiverse or MyMiniFactory - into your own MeshDepot.

MeshDepot is a self-hosted library for your 3D-print models: it keeps the files, pictures, description, tags and print settings of every design you collect, on a server you run yourself. This extension is the shortest way to get a design in there. On a model page it adds an import button. You press the site's own download button as usual, and the extension hands the resulting link to MeshDepot, which then fetches the files itself. The title, description, pictures and tags come along. WHAT YOU NEED A running MeshDepot instance and an API key from it (Account Settings -> API Keys). Enter both in the extension options once. Without a MeshDepot server this extension does nothing on its own. SUPPORTED SITES MakerWorld, Printables, Thingiverse and MyMiniFactory. WHY IT IS BUILT THIS WAY MeshDepot can also import from a pasted URL, but that means giving the server your platform login. This extension uses the session you already have in your browser instead, so no password, token or two-factor code is ever handed over. It is also the only way in for accounts whose login cannot be automated. SETTINGS - The address of your MeshDepot instance and its API key - Whether the browser download is cancelled once MeshDepot has the link, so no duplicate file is left in your download folder - Whether imported designs are added to a collection DATA AND PERMISSIONS The extension sends the page address, the download link and the design's title, description, pictures and tags to the MeshDepot instance you configured, and nowhere else. There is no telemetry and no third-party server. The broad host permission is optional and only used for the instance address you enter yourself - it cannot be known in advance, because you choose where your server runs. Cookie access is limited to the supported sites and serves to reuse the session you are already signed in with. MeshDepot and this extension are free software.
