GamPacto — Gambling Content Detector

Three layers of protection against gambling content: blocklist, smart detection, and an optional accountability partner.

GamPacto is a free Chrome extension that helps you avoid gambling content on the web. It's built for people in active recovery and anyone who simply wants to reduce their exposure to gambling content. =========================== THREE LAYERS OF PROTECTION =========================== 1. DOMAIN BLOCKLIST Every page is checked instantly against a curated list of around 46,000 known gambling domains, compiled from public regulatory registers and reputable community sources. Matches are blocked immediately, on your device, with no network call. 2. SMART DETECTION If a domain isn't on the blocklist, GamPacto scans the page on your device for gambling signals -- keyword density, odds-format detection, page structure, metadata and outbound links -- and produces a 0-100 score. Pages that score in the borderline or high range are sent to an AI classifier for a definitive verdict; a high score alone never blocks a page on its own. AI classification is available to everyone, with or without an account, up to a fair-use limit of 100 classifications per day. 3. ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER (OPTIONAL) Nominate a trusted person -- partner, sibling, friend or recovery sponsor -- and they receive discreet notification emails when GamPacto detects gambling in your browser. Those emails contain only the date and time: no URLs, no page content, no browsing details. Your partner confirms consent with a 6-digit verification code before any notifications start. ================================== WHAT LEAVES YOUR DEVICE -- AND WHAT DOESN'T ================================== By default, GamPacto keeps only aggregate counters on your device -- never URLs or hostnames. Nothing is sent off your device until a page reaches the AI step. When a page scores as borderline or high, GamPacto sends that page's URL, hostname, heuristic score and a short text excerpt (up to about 1,000 words) to our classification backend, which forwards them to the AI model for a verdict. The model processes this in memory and returns its answer; we do not store the URL, the hostname or the page content on our servers -- our usage log records only an anonymous counter used to enforce the daily fair-use limit. We do not use your data to train any machine-learning model. We do not sell or rent your data. We do not use cookies or tracking pixels. ========================= DETAILED HISTORY (OPT-IN) ========================= Signed-in users can switch on Detailed history, which keeps a per-event log (URL, hostname, confidence score and evidence) in local storage on your own device only -- it is never transmitted. The toggle lives in the popup, is off by default for everyone, and you can switch it back off and clear everything stored with one click. =================================== SENSITIVITY TIERS (SIGNED-IN USERS) =================================== Three levels of protection, each with its own AI prompt bias and heuristic routing thresholds: - STRICT -- maximum protection, and the default. Lower thresholds; AI biased toward flagging. - BALANCED -- standard thresholds. - LIGHT -- fewer pages routed to AI; AI biased toward allowing. Strengthening your protection takes effect immediately. Weakening it is queued with a deliberate cool-off -- 24 hours from Strict to Balanced or Balanced to Light, and 48 hours from Strict straight to Light. During the cool-off the popup shows a live countdown and a Cancel button. If you've added an accountability partner, they're notified the moment you request the change, not when it takes effect -- so the external commitment is in place before anything loosens. This is a deliberate harm-reduction design. ========================= WHEN GAMBLING IS DETECTED ========================= A full-screen overlay blocks the page, showing a reminder message you can customise, and clear actions: block this page, block the entire website, or go back. When the AI's own confidence is below 95%, you can also mark the page as not-gambling -- this adds it to a 14-day local whitelist that auto-expires, so the page is rescanned later. ======================= YOUR DATA, YOUR CONTROL ======================= - Multi-sheet Excel export of your detection data, generated entirely in your browser. Includes a Summary tab, your AI whitelist, your blocklists, and (in Detailed mode) one tab per detection category. - Custom domain blocklist -- block any site you choose, on top of the built-in list. - Custom URL blocklist -- block specific pages on otherwise-mixed sites. - Custom reminder message on the block overlay. - Account deletion -- signed-in users can permanently delete their account from the extension popup with a single button (two-click confirm). It immediately removes your account email, sensitivity preference, classification-usage records and accountability-partner details from our servers, and cannot be undone. Your local detection history stays on your device until you clear it. ========================= WHAT GAMPACTO DOES NOT DO ========================= - It does not replace professional support. - It does not block gambling at the operating-system level -- only inside Chrome. - It does not require an account for core protection. Account-only features are the sensitivity tiers and the Detailed history opt-in. - It does not contain ads, affiliate links or tracking. The extension is free, full stop.
