Fwdly gives every video and audio player on the web the controls it should have had: real speed control, a volume boost that goes past 100%, one-key Picture-in-Picture, A–B repeat, frame stepping and shortcuts you choose. Then it adds the part no speed controller does — it listens. ■ SMART SPEED Most extensions hold one fixed rate. Fwdly analyses the audio as it plays and moves with the content: long silence runs fast, short pauses run a little faster, speech plays at your speed, dense passages ease off, music comes back towards normal. Changes are ramped rather than jumped, so it doesn't sound like a machine gun of speed changes. ■ SKIP SILENCE Accelerate through dead air only, leaving the talking at your chosen speed. Three sensitivities — Light, Normal, Aggressive — and a built-in meter that shows you exactly what each one would skip before you commit. Audio files you test in the sensitivity meter are decoded on your machine and discarded. ■ HONEST LIMITATIONS Sites using protected playback (DRM) — Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and similar — do not allow any extension to process their audio. On those sites speed, seeking, Picture-in-Picture and A–B repeat work normally, but volume boost, voice boost, Skip Silence and Smart Speed cannot. Fwdly tells you this in the popup rather than silently doing nothing. Frame capture is also blocked by some sites' cross-origin rules, which Fwdly reports rather than failing quietly.
