FUTM
Overview
Campaign attribution, corrected.
-- Just UTM parameters getting exactly the level of respect they deserve. -- -- We’re not stopping marketers from adding tracking parameters. -- -- We’re simply answering them. -- FUTM is a tiny browser extension with one job: Take UTM tracking parameters and make them useless. A tiny bit of anarchy: Rewrites known campaign-tracking URL values before requests leave Chrome. No accounts, telemetry, or retained browsing data. It doesn’t block websites. It doesn’t break links. It doesn’t stop pages loading. It doesn’t try to be an ad blocker, privacy suite, firewall, analytics dashboard or browser security product. It simply replaces UTM tracking values with: F**KYOU So a URL like: ?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=summer_sale becomes: ?utm_source=F**KYOU_EXTENSION&utm_medium=F**KYOU&utm_campaign=F**KYOU The website still works. The tracking parameters are still technically there. They’re just no longer particularly useful. A VERY SMALL PROTEST UTM parameters are used extensively by marketers to understand where visitors came from, which campaigns they interacted with and what advertising drove them to a website. FUTM doesn’t attempt to stop companies using analytics. It doesn’t interfere with the website itself. It simply declines to participate. Instead of silently removing the parameters, FUTM deliberately leaves a small message behind. If enough people use it, campaign reports become just a little more interesting: Source: F**KYOU_EXTENSION Medium: F**KYOU Campaign: F**KYOU That’s the entire idea. A tiny, harmless protest against having every link you click labelled, categorised and attributed. NO TRACKING. OBVIOUSLY. The irony of an anti-tracking extension tracking its own users would be spectacular. So FUTM doesn’t. There is: * No analytics * No telemetry * No advertising * No user profiling * No tracking pixels * No external API * No remote logging * No account * No registration * No browsing history collection * No data sent back to us FUTM does not need to know who you are, what websites you visit, what links you click or how often you use it. It runs locally in your browser and does its extremely sophisticated job of replacing marketing parameters with a rude word. That’s it. NOT A PRIVACY SUITE There are excellent extensions that remove tracking parameters, block trackers, maintain filter lists, stop redirects and provide comprehensive browser privacy protection. FUTM isn’t trying to replace them. FUTM exists for people who want something simpler. No giant rules engine. No dashboards. No configuration maze. No cloud service. No subscription. No account. No BS. WHAT FUTM DOES When FUTM encounters supported UTM tracking parameters in a URL, their values are replaced locally with F**KYOU. The destination remains intact. The page still loads. The link still works. The marketing attribution becomes considerably less useful. WHY NOT JUST DELETE THEM? Because deleting them is boring. FUTM isn’t only about reducing tracking. It’s about leaving a tiny reminder that people clicking links are humans, not rows waiting to appear in somebody’s campaign attribution dashboard. We’re not stopping marketers from adding tracking parameters. We’re simply answering them.
