Furigana Reader adds readings to Japanese web text automatically, including new text as a page updates. ✨ Read your way • Switch between hiragana and romaji. • Hide readings you know with the JLPT slider. • Choose automatic, always on, or off for each website. • Adjust line spacing and check the green ON badge to see when readings are active. ▶️ Get started 1. Install the extension, then open or reload a Japanese page. 2. Readings appear automatically. 3. Open the toolbar popup to choose your script, level, and website settings. 🔒 Private and offline Readings use bundled fonts. Page text stays on your device, and preferences are saved locally. App Pass checks subscription access through joinapppass.com. 🎁 Start free Show all readings or hide N5 readings for free. App Pass unlocks N4 through N1, hiding readings at your selected level and easier while keeping hints for harder words. 🛡️ Why these permissions? • storage: Save reading preferences, website settings, and cached App Pass status. • activeTab: Identify the current website when you open the popup so you can change its settings. • Website access (HTTP/HTTPS): Detect Japanese text and display readings automatically, including text added after a page loads. 💡 Good to know Readings are dictionary-based hints; names and ambiguous words may be incorrect. Existing furigana, code, editors, and form fields are left alone. Images, PDFs, browser pages, and store pages aren’t supported.
