Overview

Full page screen capture, visible window or area screenshot. Any webpage as a lossless PNG - copy to clipboard or save as PNG.

KAPTURE turns any web page into a clean PNG image. Take a full page screenshot of an entire scrollable document, grab only the visible window, or drag a rectangle to capture exactly the region you need. Every shot opens in its own result tab where you preview it, rename it, and decide what happens next - nothing is written to your disk until you say so. Most capture tools fire the instant you press the button. That is also the instant a dropdown closes, a tooltip disappears, or a hover state collapses. KAPTURE fixes this with a built-in capture delay: choose 0, 3 or 5 seconds, open the menu you actually need, and let the on-screen countdown take the shot for you. 🎯 THREE WAYS TO CAPTURE ▸ Visible - capture what is on screen right now, in a single keystroke. ▸ Full Page - scroll, shoot and stitch the whole document into one tall image. ▸ Area - draw a rectangle and take an area screenshot of just that region. All three are available from the toolbar popup, from the right-click menu, or - for the visible window - from a keyboard shortcut. Only one capture runs at a time, so nothing overlaps or half-renders. 📐 FULL PAGE SCREEN CAPTURE, DONE PROPERLY The classic defect of a scrolling screenshot is the sticky header. It reappears every few hundred pixels down the stitched image and the result looks broken. KAPTURE hides fixed and sticky elements after the first slice, so when it goes on to capture entire webpage content the output looks the way the page actually looks - hero to footer, one continuous image. A steady progress indicator shows how far the run has got (Capturing... 3 / 8). It hides itself for the exact frame each slice is taken, so the overlay never lands inside your image. Documents that would exceed the browser's maximum canvas size are reported clearly instead of producing a broken file - a long screenshot capture either works or tells you precisely why it cannot. The scrollbar is hidden while the page is being walked, and your original scroll position is restored the moment the run finishes. You end up exactly where you started. ✂️ PRECISION AREA SELECTION Pick Area and the page dims. A crosshair cursor, a selection rectangle with corner handles and a live W x H readout let you frame the region down to the pixel. Press Esc at any point to cancel. The selection overlay itself never appears in the crop - only the page underneath it. 🖼️ THE RESULT TAB: NOTHING IS SAVED SILENTLY Every successful shot opens a dedicated tab. The image sits on a checkerboard background so transparent edges stay readable. A header stamp tells you which mode produced it - VISIBLE, FULL PAGE or AREA - alongside the capture time. A metadata line reports pixel dimensions, file size, mode and format. The filename field is already filled in for you, built from the page title plus the date and time, with a locked .PNG suffix. Edit it to whatever you want; illegal characters are stripped automatically on save. Then choose one of three actions: 1️⃣ Copy - copy to clipboard and paste straight into a ticket, a document or a chat thread. 2️⃣ Save - download immediately using the filename you typed. No dialog, no interruption. 3️⃣ Save as... - open the system dialog and pick the folder yourself. Images are always saved as PNG: lossless, sharp at any zoom level, transparency intact. There is no format dropdown and no quality slider, because the answer to "why is my 11px text blurry" is always JPEG compression. ⌨️ FAST BY DESIGN Think of it as a print screen for Chrome that is not trapped inside the visible window. • Ctrl+Shift+S (Cmd+Shift+S on macOS) - instant capture of the visible window. • Right-click - Capture Visible Area, Capture Full Page, or Select Area, straight from the context menu. • Toolbar popup - all three modes plus the delay setting, one click away. The toolbar icon gives you feedback while you wait: an animated busy badge during the run, a green check when the image is ready, a red mark if something went wrong. The badge clears itself. 👥 WHO IT IS FOR Anyone who regularly needs more than the visible window ends up here sooner or later: ➤ QA engineers and bug reporters ➤ Frontend and web developers ➤ UI and product designers ➤ Technical writers and documentation authors ➤ Support and customer success teams ➤ Marketers and competitive researchers ➤ SEO specialists and analysts ➤ Product managers ➤ Educators and students ➤ Anyone keeping a dated visual record 💡 WHAT PEOPLE USE IT FOR 1. Capturing an open dropdown or navigation flyout using the 3-second countdown. 2. Capturing a tooltip or hover state that would vanish the moment you click. 3. Saving a competitor's pricing page as a full page screenshot before it changes. 4. Cropping a single UI control out of a busy interface for a documentation step. 5. Sending a form validation error straight into a bug ticket from the clipboard. 6. Archiving a long article, a listing or an order confirmation, named and dated. 7. Grabbing a rendered component before and after a CSS change. 8. Recording a SERP or an audit finding as a lossless, dated image. 🖥️ PROCESSED ON YOUR DEVICE Stitching, cropping and encoding all run locally in your browser. Fonts ship inside the package, so the interface renders without pulling anything in. Your captures are handled on your own machine. 🧩 PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED - activeTab - read the current tab, and only in response to something you clicked. No broad host access is requested. - downloads - write the PNG to disk when you press Save. - offscreen - stitch full-page slices and crop selections in an offscreen document. - storage - remember your delay preference across your signed-in Chrome. - contextMenus - add the right-click capture entries. No host permissions are requested. 🚀 HOW TO USE IT 1️⃣ Open the page you want to capture. 2️⃣ Click the KAPTURE icon, or press Ctrl+Shift+S, or right-click the page. 3️⃣ Pick Visible, Full Page or Area. Set a countdown first if you need to open a menu. 4️⃣ Wait for the result tab to open, rename the file, then Copy, Save, or Save as... ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW Chrome does not allow extensions to capture its own internal pages (chrome://, extension pages, view-source:, devtools:), the Chrome Web Store, or local file:// pages. KAPTURE detects these and tells you plainly instead of failing silently or handing you an empty file. Built on Manifest V3. No UI framework, no bloat, no background polling - a small, quiet extension that stays out of the way until you press the button. Install KAPTURE and get full page screen capture, pixel-accurate area selection and a timed shot in one lightweight tool.
