Frevana Companion is the browser arm of Frevana Desktop. Install Frevana Desktop first at https://www.frevana.com/onboarding. Then add this companion extension so the desktop app can drive your logged-in browser sessions without uploading your conversations, cookies, or tab contents to any server. Frevana Desktop is a local AI workflow tool. This extension is what it uses to talk to your browser. When you ask the desktop app to run a prompt, extract a page to markdown, or publish a post, the work happens inside the tabs where you're already signed in — the extension drives those tabs for the desktop app over Chrome's local native-messaging channel. WHAT FREVANA DESKTOP DOES THROUGH THIS EXTENSION ───────────────────────────────────────────────── • Multi-provider Q&A One prompt from the desktop app can be sent to the AI services you select, with results returned side by side so you can compare answers, sources, and reasoning. • Your own logins, your own usage quota Frevana never proxies your questions through our servers. The extension drives the AI provider tabs you're already logged into, so you keep using your existing paid AI subscriptions and your existing conversation context. • Cited URL capture and source extraction For providers that cite their sources, the extension extracts the list of URLs and can optionally open them in background tabs for verification. • Universal web page → markdown Any article, product page, or docs page can be extracted as clean markdown — triggered from a compatible local AI assistant via MCP running inside Frevana Desktop. • MCP integration with local AI assistants Frevana Desktop exposes an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Compatible local AI assistants can ask Frevana Desktop to run browser work on their behalf, and this extension is what carries that work out. • Cross-platform publishing Compose a post in Frevana Desktop, publish to LinkedIn, X/Twitter, or Facebook via your existing logged-in sessions. No API keys, no posting through our servers. • Structured export One-click export to JSON, CSV, Markdown, or a zip bundle. Includes per-prompt answers, provider metadata, cited URLs, and optional full-page screenshots. • Tab groups, not popup windows Everything the extension opens gets organized into a collapsed "Frevana Run" / "Frevana MCP" / "Frevana Publish" tab group in your current window. You always see what was opened and can ungroup, inspect, or close it at any time. WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES NOT DO ────────────────────────────── • We do not transmit your AI conversations to our servers. Questions and answers live on your machine — in local storage, native-messaging pipes, and the files you choose to export. • We do not inject third-party scripts into the sites you visit. The only code that runs on provider pages is shipped inside this extension and is reviewed by the Chrome Web Store. • We do not scrape sites you are not logged into. If a provider requires authentication, the extension relies on your own session cookies — it does not attempt to bypass logins, paywalls, or captchas. • We do not weaken browser security. No CSP bypass; no modification of security-relevant response headers on third-party sites. See the privacy policy for the complete list. HOW IT WORKS ──────────── Frevana Companion runs as a Manifest V3 extension that sleeps in the background until Frevana Desktop calls it. The desktop app speaks to the extension over Chrome's native-messaging API (com.frevana.daemon), which is a local-only IPC pipe that never traverses a network. When a scrape, publish, or extract request comes in, the extension opens a background tab in a color-coded tab group, injects a small content script that drives the provider's own UI, captures the response, and reports back to the desktop. Screenshots are generated via an offscreen document or the Chrome DevTools Protocol so your active tab is never interrupted. All data stays local unless you explicitly export it.
