FreshRSS Monitor is a powerful, modern Chrome extension designed for RSS enthusiasts to effortlessly monitor unread article counts across multiple FreshRSS instances. All server URLs, usernames, and API keys are stored strictly inside your browser's local storage (chrome.storage). No user data or analytics are ever collected or sent to any remote server. 🆕 What's new in v1.1.0 ⚠️ After updating To reduce permissions, the extension no longer asks for access to all websites at install time. It now asks for access to each FreshRSS site when you add it. If a site card shows "Grant Access" after the update, click it and allow access. Your existing sites are kept. ✨ New - Desktop notifications when new articles arrive; click to open the site (can be turned off in Options) - The icon shows "!" when a site can't be reached, and the popup and Options page explain why - Hover over the icon to see the unread count of each site - Option to turn off "open the site directly when only one site has unread articles" - The connection is tested automatically before a site is saved 🔒 Privacy & security - API passwords are now stored only on this device and are no longer synced to your Google account - Backups exclude API passwords unless you choose to include them - A warning is shown when a site uses an unencrypted http:// address 🛠 Fixes - Polling intervals are now respected (sites were previously checked every minute) - Unread counts and settings no longer get overwritten when several sites update at once - Editing a site no longer re-enables it or resets its unread count - Switching the language back to "Follow browser" now takes effect, and all text appears in the chosen language - Fixed unread articles being counted twice in some setups - Requests time out after 15 seconds instead of hanging - All error messages are now translated
