Free AI Assistant is a free browser extension with no built-in subscription. It works with your own Cohere API key. Cohere may provide a free, rate-limited trial API key after sign-up; higher-volume use is subject to Cohere's own terms and limits. Main features - Summarize a page from the browser sidebar. - Get concise, professional, context-aware summaries for articles, listings, research, and other readable pages. - Explain or summarize selected text. - Rewrite text with shorter, professional, or natural wording. - Draft clear replies and messages. - Ask context-aware follow-up questions about the latest page, selection, summary, explanation, rewrite, or draft. - Get practical step-by-step answers for procedural questions. - Follow a short English, German, or Turkish guide to obtain and save your Cohere API key. - Reopen locally saved chats with their conversation context. - Use English, German, or Turkish with light, soft, and dark themes. Selected-text and writing workflows Use the short right-click menu for summaries, explanations, rewrites, translations, and reply drafts. In editable fields, the Rewrite control helps improve text where you type. Local chat history Non-empty chats are saved locally and persist across browser restarts. The latest 30 non-empty chats are retained, with the latest 50 messages in each chat. The first sidebar opening after a Chrome restart starts one fresh chat while earlier retained conversations remain available in Chat History. You can delete one chat or clear all history. Privacy and data processing Your Cohere API key, settings, drafts, and chat history are stored locally in extension storage. Selected text, requested page text, your current message, and recent context needed for the current request may be sent to Cohere only after you trigger an AI action. The extension does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or telemetry and does not sell user data. Free AI Assistant is an independent browser extension.
