Authenticator is a simple and easy-to-use browser authentication tool open-sourced on GitHub. This extension supports scanning QR codes on web pages or manually entering keys to add accounts. The verification code is displayed in real-time within the extension; clicking the number copies it and automatically fills it into the current webpage, making two-step verification faster and more convenient. When a website asks for a two-factor authentication code, you don't need to leave your browser. Authenticator is a browser authenticator that lets you view your account's dynamic verification code in an extended window, copy it, and try entering it into the verification code input box on the current webpage. Open the extension and click the "Add" button. You can scan the QR code of a supported account on the current webpage, or manually enter the account name and authentication key. After adding, the account will be displayed in a list for easy searching and use. When you need to manage multiple accounts, you can quickly find the target account through search, or filter related accounts based on the current website. Time-based CAPTCHAs are updated periodically according to account settings. The extension also supports counter-based accounts and provides account editing, compatible data import, and text backup export for convenient daily management. Accounts can also be imported from QR code images or read from compatible account backups. For 2FAS backups, currently only unencrypted account data is supported; files requiring decryption or using other proprietary structures may not be directly importable. This tool works on websites that provide standard authentication keys or compatible account QR codes. It does not receive SMS messages and cannot retrieve lost authentication keys. QR code recognition and autofill are affected by webpage structure and browser limitations; on pages where autofill is not possible, you can still copy the code and fill it in manually. Webpage operations are not supported on browser-internal pages and some restricted pages. Your account is stored in your browser extension's storage. When browser synchronization is enabled, account data may be synchronized through your browser account. The extension also provides an option to initiate cloud synchronization; please read the privacy policy before using this feature to understand how your data is processed. Exported backups contain authentication keys; please keep them safe and retain the recovery methods provided on the website. On your first use, you can open the sample page within the extension and try out scanning QR codes and filling in verification codes with a demo account. Then, follow the website's own setup process to add your account.
