Overview

See what your photos secretly reveal — GPS location, device, serial numbers — and remove it before you share. 100% on-device.

Chrome Web Store listing — copy/paste Store listing tab Name (from manifest): Fotoback Photo Privacy Check Summary (≤132 chars, from manifest): See what your photos secretly reveal — GPS location, device, serial numbers — and remove it before you share. 100% on-device. Category: Tools → Privacy & Security (fallback: Photos) Language: English Description: Every photo your phone takes quietly carries hidden details: the exact GPS spot where it was taken, the date and time, your phone model and serial numbers, sometimes even the names of people tagged in it. Share that photo of your kid on a forum or a marketplace listing of your sofa, and anyone can pull your home address right out of it. Fotoback Photo Privacy Check shows you exactly what a photo reveals — in plain English — and gives you a clean copy in one click. WHAT IT FINDS • Exact GPS location (with a map preview so you can see what others see) • Place names — city, state, country • Names of people tagged in the photo • Owner name, artist, camera and lens serial numbers • Hidden extra data — motion-photo video clips and depth maps tucked after the image • Embedded preview thumbnails that can show the original, uncropped photo • Date and time taken, device, software, captions and comments HOW IT WORKS • Drop photos onto the page, choose files, or paste from the clipboard • Right-click any image on the web → "Check photo privacy" • Click "Download clean copy" — metadata is removed without re-compressing, so quality is identical to the original • Clean many photos at once with "Download all clean" • Photos stay upright: only the rotation flag is kept PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your photos never leave your computer. There's no upload, no account, no analytics and no tracking. The extension only loads a web image when you right-click it and ask it to, and only asks for access to that one site. Supports JPEG, PNG and WebP. Made by Fotoback — private photo backup for families. Your photos are never used to train AI. https://fotoback.app Official URL / Homepage URL: https://fotoback.app (Verify fotoback.app in Google Search Console under the same Google account as the developer dashboard — it then shows as the verified publisher site on the listing.) Support URL: https://fotoback.app/support Graphics needed Store icon 128×128: icons/icon128.png Screenshots 1280×800 (at least 1): load the extension, drop a phone photo with location on, capture the results card. A second one of the right-click menu on a web image. Small promo tile 440×280 (optional but improves placement). Privacy practices tab Single purpose: Shows the hidden metadata inside a photo (location, device, dates, identifiers) and lets the user download a copy with that metadata removed. Permission justifications: contextMenus — Adds "Check photo privacy" to the right-click menu on images so the user can check a web image. Optional host permissions (http://*/*, https://*/*) — Requested at runtime for a single site only, when the user right-clicks an image hosted there and clicks "Allow". Needed to read the image file's bytes so its metadata can be shown. Never requested automatically. Remote code: No, I am not using remote code. Data usage: The extension does not collect or transmit any user data. Tick nothing; certify the three disclosures. Privacy policy URL: https://fotoback.app/privacy (Consider adding a short "Chrome extension" paragraph there: processes images locally, collects nothing.)
