Overview

Recovers text you lose from any form, editor or single page app. Local only, and passwords and card numbers are never stored.

Form ReDraft is a local form recovery extension for Chrome built to stop your typing disappearing. It keeps a quiet copy of what you write into forms, editors and single page apps, then puts it back in one click after a reload, a crash, an accidental tab close or a site that signs you out, all stored on your own device and free from clutter and accounts. Whether you write long replies, fill in repetitive forms or simply lose work to a bad refresh, Form ReDraft helps you take back control of your text. # Lost Text Recovery for Chrome Form ReDraft records text as you type into textareas, single line inputs, rich text editors and content editable regions, then restores it into the same field. Drafts are encrypted on your device and never leave your browser. + Broad Field Coverage: Records textareas, text style inputs, content editable regions and rich text editors. + Framework Aware Restore: Writes through the native prototype setter and dispatches input and change events, so React, Vue and Angular inputs adopt the text instead of overwriting it. + Works Inside Frameworks: Handles single page apps, fields inside shadow DOM and iframes, because the extension runs in every frame. + Restores Across Pages: A draft from another page opens that page and applies the draft on arrival, so long writing is not stuck on the screen where you typed it. + Field Aware: Only records fields you actually changed, so clicking around a page or using player controls never creates a draft. + One Click Restore: Clear a field and a badge appears beside it, showing how much was kept, with a restore button and a visible flash on the field. # Why Choose Form ReDraft + Stop losing long replies, ticket descriptions and form entries to a crash or a reload + Keep everything local, encrypted and on your own device with no account and no network requests + Choose exactly where recording happens, per site and see the state in the popup at a glance + Restore into complex fields that a simple paste would fail on + Export everything to a JSON file you control and delete it all whenever you want # How It Works 1. Install Form ReDraft and pin it to the Chrome toolbar for easy access 2. Open any page with a form, editor or comment box, then click the extension icon 3. Choose on first run whether to record only on sites you turn on or on every site except the built in blocked list 4. Turn recording on for the site with one click, then type as normal and pause for about 400 milliseconds 5. If the text is ever lost, clear the field and click Restore on the badge that appears beside it # Interface and Controls + The popup opens with one status panel showing whether the current site is being recorded, with a single button to change that state + Search filters your drafts by page title, domain and field name + Drafts are grouped by domain so multi site work stays readable + Each draft offers Restore when you are on the same page or Open and restore to go there and apply it + Each draft can be copied to the clipboard or deleted + The footer shows how many drafts are stored and how much space they use, with a Donate link + The header gear opens the settings page for all global options + A first run choice appears once, offering only the sites you turn on or every site except the blocked list # Settings + Recording Scope: Switch between only the sites you turn on and every site except the blocked list. + Sites You Turned On: One domain per line, subdomains included. + Sites Never Recorded: The built in blocked list of banking, payment, email, identity and developer console sites, fully editable. + Recording Toggles: Keep drafts at all, show the restore badge on empty fields and keep drafts in private browsing windows. + Retention: Delete drafts older than a set number of hours and set maximum drafts per site, maximum drafts in total and maximum storage used. + Cleanup Interval: How often the retention and size limits are applied, with cleanup also running the moment storage fills up. + Extra Field Names to Never Save: One case insensitive pattern per line for your own sensitive fields, alongside the built in blocks that cannot be switched off. + Stored Data: See live storage use, export all drafts to a JSON file and clear everything with confirmation. + Danger Zone: Delete every stored draft at once, with a confirmation step. # Display Modes and Example + Badge on Icon and Mask concepts do not apply to Form ReDraft. Recoverability is shown only where it helps: the badge appears beside an empty field that has a draft and never over a field you have just filled in. + Shadow root and iframe limitations do not apply either. The badge is placed in the same tree as the field, so a field inside a web component or an iframe can be restored in place. + Example: open https://www.getslidecut.com/form-redraft/documentation/ and type a long paragraph into any field, clear it with select all and delete, then restore from the badge to see the text return and the field flash. # Permissions Explained + storage: Used to save your settings, your encrypted drafts and the encryption key directly on your computer. All data is stored locally and is not sent to an external server. + alarms: Used to schedule the periodic cleanup that applies your retention window and size limits, so old drafts are removed without you thinking about it. + activeTab: Used only when you press a button in the popup, so the extension can write the restored text into the tab you are looking at. Local Storage and Page Access Form ReDraft makes no network requests of any kind. It runs on pages through content script match patterns, which lets it read and restore fields on sites you visit without any permission to make network requests from them. # Privacy First + Every draft is encrypted with AES GCM using a key held only in your browser profile + No account, no network requests, no analytics and no telemetry + No personal data is collected and no tracking is used + Drafts never leave your device and exports are plain JSON files you create yourself + A fresh install records nothing anywhere until you choose a recording scope + Password fields, card number fields and one time code fields are never recorded and recognisable secrets inside ordinary text are replaced with [redacted] Privacy Policy: https://www.getslidecut.com/form-redraft/privacy-policy # Support and Feedback + For questions and suggestions, reach out on X @getflookup or leave a review on the Chrome Web Store + For help, visit https://www.getslidecut.com/form-redraft/contact
