Form Keeper — Local Form Autofill helps you save time on repetitive web forms while keeping your saved information on your own device. Its main purpose is twofold: to preserve typed form input so your work is not lost, and to let you reuse saved data later with minimal effort. It works directly inside web pages, offers quick controls from the popup, includes a full settings and data-management page, and adds right-click menu shortcuts for faster filling. The extension is centered on local form capture and local autofill. It can observe forms on pages you visit, detect meaningful input entered into text fields, textareas, selects, checkboxes, radios, and editable content areas, and store that information directly in your browser's local storage. You can manually save the current form as a named site-specific entry or save it as a reusable global profile. Site-specific entries are intended for exact reuse on the same website, while global profiles are designed for broader reuse of personal details across different sites. This creates a practical balance between precision and flexibility: one option remembers a particular form structure for a specific host, while the other supports filling similar fields elsewhere. Form Keeper also acts as a recovery tool. When recording is enabled for a site, it can create temporary backup drafts in the background while you type. These automatic backups are separate from manually saved entries and are presented in the popup as an unsaved draft recovery item. This means the extension can help restore progress after a browser crash, refresh, or accidentally closed tab, making it useful not only for autofill but also for protecting longer form sessions. To improve filling accuracy, the extension calculates form signatures and tracks form IDs so it can locate the best matching form later. For global profiles, it attempts semantic matching so values such as name, email, or phone-related information can be inserted into the most relevant fields on a page. For site-specific entries, filling is more exact and follows the saved structure of that host. Form Keeper features language-aware host identification, allowing it to distinguish between versions of the same site based on path, locale markers in the URL, or document language settings. This is especially useful on multilingual websites where different language versions may present different forms. Several convenience features support this core behavior. A floating on-page save button appears when edited form content is detected and recording is enabled, giving you a quick way to save without opening the popup. The toolbar badge can show either the number of saved entries for the current page or a small dot to indicate there is data worth saving. In the popup, tabs provide access to the current site, all saved site entries, and global profiles. From there, users can fill, rename, delete, restore, and search saved items. The settings page expands control further with import and export tools, retention settings, and a data browser for reviewing saved forms and profiles. How It Works: 1. Open a webpage with forms and enable recording for that site from the extension popup. 2. As you type into supported fields, the extension detects meaningful input and can create temporary local backup drafts. 3. Save the current form manually either with the floating save button or from the popup as a site-specific entry or a reusable profile. 4. Return later and use the popup to fill a saved item, restore an unsaved draft, search saved forms, or manage profiles. 5. Use the context menu to fill a complete saved form or profile, or insert a single saved value into the active field. 6. Adjust settings such as merge fill, retention period, badge visibility, sensitive-looking field handling, and import or export options as needed. 7. If a tab closes unexpectedly or a browser crash interrupts your session, reopen the page and restore the latest available draft from the popup. Privacy: No personal data collected. All saved data remains strictly in local browser storage on your device and is never uploaded anywhere. Password fields are never saved, and sensitive-looking fields are excluded by default unless you explicitly choose to include them.
