ForceNetflix4K - Unlock 4K Ultra HD Streaming on Netflix ForceNetflix4K is an open-source browser extension designed to bypass browser-side viewport, resolution, and media capability restrictions on Netflix to unlock 4K Ultra HD video playback options. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚠️ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER & PREREQUISITES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spoofing browser metrics is ONLY ONE of several strict requirements enforced by Netflix for 4K streaming. This extension bypasses browser-side screen dimension and capability checks, but CANNOT bypass hardware or OS-level DRM requirements. To stream in 4K UHD, your system MUST satisfy ALL of the following: 1. 💳 Netflix Premium Subscription: An active account tier supporting Ultra HD (4K). 2. 💻 Hardware & HEVC Support: A GPU with HEVC (H.265) hardware decoding. On Windows 10/11, Microsoft's "HEVC Video Extensions" app (€0.99 / $0.99 on the Microsoft Store) is required if not pre-installed by your PC manufacturer. 3. 🔐 HDCP 2.2 Display Chain: Your graphics card, monitor, and cables must all support HDCP 2.2. 4. 🌐 Supported Browser: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Windows 10/11. (Note: Brave is NOT supported due to built-in shields blocking PlayReady profile negotiation). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚡ WHAT FORCENETFLIX4K DOES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When navigating to netflix.com, the extension automatically injects lightweight scripts to: • Spoof the browser User-Agent to report as Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, triggering PlayReady 4K profile selection. • Intercept window and screen dimensions to report a 3840x2160 (4K UHD) viewport and high Device Pixel Ratio. • Wrap MediaCapabilities and MediaSource APIs to report full 4K HEVC/AV1 video decoding support. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚠️ HDCP & MULTI-MONITOR TROUBLESHOOTING -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If ANY connected display in a multi-monitor setup lacks HDCP 2.2 support (e.g. an older secondary 1080p monitor or non-compliant cable), OS-level DRM will force Netflix to fallback to 1080p or 720p. • FIX: Press [Win + P] on Windows and select "PC screen only" during playback to temporarily disconnect non-HDCP secondary displays. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📌 UI NOTICE & NOTES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Because the extension forces a 4K viewport, Netflix's website navigation menu and thumbnail carousels may appear slightly scaled or display minor visual layout glitches on smaller displays.
