Overview

Guided API key setup. Keys go from the provider page straight to your Mac Keychain or Windows Credential Manager.

Providers show your API key once. Footgun catches it. Footgun Keys walks you through getting an API key from OpenAI, Stripe, Supabase, Resend and 16 more providers. It highlights each click on the provider's own dashboard, catches the key the moment the provider shows it, and keeps it in your Mac's Keychain. No copying, no lost tabs, no "where did I put that?" How it works 1. Your coding agent asks for a key, or you pick a guide from the Footgun button in Chrome's toolbar. 2. You click Start. The guide tells you which site it will open first. 3. Follow the highlights. Footgun shows the next click, one step at a time. 4. The key is caught when the provider shows it and handed to the Footgun helper on your Mac, which stores it in the Keychain. 5. When your agent asked for it, the key is written to your project's env file and kept out of git, and a test call checks that it works. Your keys stay on your Mac Key values go from the provider page to the helper on your Mac through Chrome's native messaging. They are never sent to Footgun's servers and never logged. The extension asks for access to a provider's site only when you start that provider's guide. Requirements Chrome on a Mac, and the free Footgun helper (npx @getfootgun/keys setup). Some guides need Footgun Pro. Privacy policy: https://getfootgun.com/privacy
