Fokasu blocks distracting websites during your focus sessions. Fokasu works together with the currently free Fokasu desktop app to enforce the website blocking rules you set up for your focus sessions. When a session is active, the extension redirects any site on your block list to a simple blocked page — no nagging, no bypassing through a new tab or incognito window (if you enable incognito access). How it works The extension connects only to the Fokasu desktop app running on your own computer (over localhost). The desktop app sends your block list and exception list to the extension locally, and the extension checks open tab URLs against those lists to enforce blocking while a session is active. What data is involved Fokasu reads tab URLs locally, only to match them against your configured block and exception rules. The extension does not send tab URLs, browsing history, page content, titles, cookies, or credentials to any remote server. It sends a small local heartbeat (browser type, whether an incognito window is open, extension ID, and timestamp) to the Fokasu desktop app on your device — never off-device. Your block/exception rules are delivered to the extension locally from the desktop app. This data is used only to provide the website-blocking feature. It is never sold, used for advertising, or shared with third parties. Requirements Fokasu requires the free Fokasu desktop app (JavaFX) to be installed and running on your computer. The extension alone does not block anything — it enforces the rules the desktop app provides. Download the desktop app at fokasu.app. Permissions Website access is used only to apply blocking rules to sites you configure and to read matching tab URLs for already-open tabs — not to inspect page content. Storage is used only to remember your one-time consent choice. Alarms keep the extension's background connection to the desktop app alive after the browser suspends it.
