Role Rover — Job Search & Application Copilot

Monitor your job searches, rank opportunities against your experience, and manage applications locally.

Role Rover turns your browser into a private job-search workspace. Add your résumé, verify the experience and preferences that matter, then monitor job titles across supported job sites and direct employer boards. New opportunities are deduplicated and ranked against your profile. Every recommendation includes evidence, gaps to verify, collection confidence, and the analysis method used. Open the original posting or application page, organize the opportunity in your application pipeline, schedule follow-ups, and keep interview and contact details together. On supported application systems, Role Rover can inspect visible fields and propose values from your verified profile and reusable answers. You select each field before filling. It never clicks Submit, never answers protected or unsupported questions by guessing, and refuses to overwrite a value when the page has changed since review. Core matching is local and requires no Role Rover account, hosted backend, API key, or companion app. When Chrome's built-in Prompt API reports its browser-managed model as available, Role Rover may use it locally for bounded fit analysis. Optional integrations include local Ollama and a separately installed Claude companion. External AI sharing is off by default and requires explicit consent. The extension shows a local activity record of AI requests and responses. Application Packs turn verified evidence into a reviewable tailored summary, résumé bullets, and cover letter. Local generation is always available. When Claude tailoring is enabled, Claude selects only current verified fact IDs and Role Rover constructs qualification text locally from the exact saved facts. Every pack remains a draft until the user approves it, and its generation provenance is visible and sealed with the approved version. ### Highlights - Monitor title, location, and work-mode searches on selected supported sources - Search the official no-key Remotive remote-jobs feed with visible attribution - Optionally search the official USAJOBS federal-jobs API using the user's own API credential - Optionally recover unresolved LinkedIn and Indeed descriptions plus available public company and hiring-contact information through a directly approved, user-funded Apify run that sends public posting URLs only - Discover structured Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby employer boards - Rank jobs against a locally stored résumé and opportunity profile - Explain match evidence, qualification gaps, provenance, and confidence - Deduplicate the same opportunity across reliable source evidence - Track saved jobs, applications, follow-ups, contacts, and interviews - Create a user-reviewed job-summary email draft - Inspect and fill selected fields on supported ATS application pages - Generate local or Claude-selected, user-reviewed Application Packs from verified facts - Export and restore a password-protected complete local backup; deliberate plain-JSON export remains available ### Important limitations - Job sites may require the user to sign in or complete a human-verification check. Role Rover does not bypass those controls. - Background checks run only while the browser and device are available. - Third-party page changes can temporarily reduce collection or autofill reliability; source health and field errors are shown instead of silently claiming success. - Role Rover does not submit applications automatically. - The optional Claude companion requires a separate local installation. It is not needed for core use. - USAJOBS is optional and requires the user to request and configure a personal USAJOBS API email and key. The credential is protected by Apple Keychain, Windows Credential Locker, or Linux Secret Service through the local companion and is excluded from Role Rover backups and diagnostics. - Apify fallback is optional and requires the user's own API token. Permission is requested only during setup, every potentially billable run requires confirmation, at most 25 canonical public LinkedIn or Indeed posting URLs are sent, and disconnect removes the token and permission. Public company fields, visible job-poster details, and published emails are requested when available; company enrichment may add cost. No résumé, profile, cookies, or job-site credentials are sent.
