Fog Mode — Free Chrome Extension for Brain Fog
Overview
Declutter your articles, reduce motion, use a reading guide, auto-scroll your page, play sound, take breaks and save your place.
Make webpages easier to read when brain fog makes it hard to focus. Fog Mode brings reading adjustments, short breaks, background sound and a reminder of your next step into the page you're using. It's for the moments when a busy webpage feels overwhelming, you keep losing your place, or you forget what you opened a tab to do. A small circle at the bottom right opens four simple tools. Choose what you need, then close the controls. Your page keeps its space. DECLUTTER — Make the page easier to follow. Increase text size, give lines and paragraphs more room, follow a reading guide with your pointer, or reduce animations. On suitable articles, open a simpler reading view with fewer distractions. PAUSE — Take a break without leaving the page. Choose a breathing guide, a look-away break or a quiet timer. Begin when you want, and pause or end it whenever you need. SOUND — Choose background sound for your reading or work. Play brown, pink or white noise. Set the volume and an automatic stop; sound starts only when you press Play. REMEMBER — Keep your next step in sight. Write a note such as “Find the delivery date” and attach it to the tab. Save a page, selected text and your reading position when you choose, so you have a place to return to. You don't have to set everything up again on each page. Enable optional website access once, and Fog Mode restores the circle and your enabled reading choices on allowed pages. An attached next-step note follows navigation in its tab. Sound and pause choices are remembered, but playback and sessions start only when you choose. Settings also offers focus timers and optional break reminders. YOUR DATA STAYS IN YOUR CHROME PROFILE. Notes, preferences and recent session history stay locally. Fog Mode sends none of this data to a server. There is no account, cloud sync, analytics or advertising. Export a backup or delete saved data in Settings. Local storage and exported backups are unencrypted; avoid private records, especially in notes displayed on a webpage. Page tools are for ordinary websites. Chrome settings, the Chrome Web Store, some PDF viewers and embedded frames have limitations. Article view needs a suitable article. Turn off reading tools or press Escape on the page to undo reading changes. Fog Mode is a practical reading and task tool for people experiencing brain fog or difficulty focusing. It does not diagnose or treat a medical condition. By What Is Brain Fog.
